While the RODE VideoMicro is am amazing mic for vlogging, sitting so far away from it for talking head style videos has always made it sound a little worse than what it really does. As long as you're about a foot away from the mic it sounds great! Anything more than two feet, however, it starts to sound horrible imo.
This lav mic from PopVoice will only set about $15 on amazon, and sounds pretty good for the price! Spend some time with it and create a proper EQ for it, and I'm sure it will be a huge upgrade to your set up. For pricing, click the Amazon Affiliate Link below!
