Kilncadzow December 28th 2009 Paramotor Flight in Deep Snow
Took off with a sort of John Cleese funny walk - having to life my feet out of the 12-14" of snow each step while still running. Amazing views, but very very cold - even with heated gloves on.
Courtesy of Bob at the Full moon flyin, I had a go of his 'jet boots' great fun! Outtakes, and Bob showing how it should be done at the end!

next time yer sitting there with nothing to do - why not strap on your paramotor and be 5000 feet above the earth in 5 minutes! 5 minutes up, 15 minutes to come down with the engine off - bloody awesome.
This is a JPX 330 - an heavy old engine, but one with lots of oomph. Combined with a 1.3m carbon prop it is pushing out a lot of thrust.. probably around 80-90kg. Combined with a light(ish) pilot (me - my other paramotor is a PAP top80) and you get some pretty awesome climbing capability!!!

I'm thinking either the front right prop has snapped in two or the motor stopped working. It uncontrollably goes vertical, and is still going forward and down - hitting ground at speed. gopro lens scraped, LCD not working anymore... one leg smashed, gimbal bent and smashed, props all smashed... not pretty

50 mile cross country out and along the North Sea and some rivers in the South East of England. With a bonus competition:
Listen to the question somewhere during the video. If you think you know (or can find out!) the answer, put it in the comments. At the end of June, I'll collect everyone who has the right answer, put them in a hat and pull out a winner. Winner gets a nearly unique 'The Flying Scotsman' paramotor cap. As not seen on TV and in the shops.
Competition open to UK people only - since I need to post the cap to you. If you win and then tell me an address outside the UK, I'll just draw from the hat again until I get a UK person, so please - no folk outside of UK for this comp.
Don't worry - if this competition is a success I'll do more, and will extend them to rest of the world, but for the first one, I just want to keep it simple. Thanks for understanding :-)
