My 88 year old mother has been suffering from insomnia, mainly from her blood pressure medicine. She is my most loyal student, always coming to class before everyone else. But apparently not enough.
So in addition to my daily classes which typically are in the morning, I am starting a new nightly session with her (8:30 pm PST) where we will practice in silence a popular QiGong exercise for 30 minutes to help her sleep and to lower her blood pressure, which is called Ping Shuai Gong (平甩功) meaning Swing Arm Exercise.
For first timer, please search the web for “Ping Shuai Gong” before coming to class, look for the Wikipedia page and the demonstration video by students of Master Li. Feel free to ask question at the end.

繼如師父是一個改革者、他的前輩也是佛教改革者。
他的師公太虛大師生在清朝、是人生佛教的創始人。
他的師伯印順導師、影響力也非常大、他出名的弟子包括證嚴上人、幾代學者將人間佛教、在台灣、在全世界發揚光大。
我跟隨師父四年多、也近身的見到他不停的改革佛教。兩星期前他第一次在網上主持三日禪修班、所有的開示錄起來了、正在安上字幕、希望不久將來可以公開。
師父今次開示非常有革命性、主要是打破大乘小乘的無聊界限、實行統一為佛乘。
修行首先要做好基本準備、要守五戒行十善、得到人天福報的資糧、然後才可以按步就班、繼續修梵輪和法輪。

「如入禪定、身無病苦、心不貪戀、念而無念。」
「正念禪修念佛學會」是一個由「繼如法師」學生自發組織的「禪淨共修、自他兼利」學會。「念」是將思惟固定在某個對象、師父稱為「憶念」。能夠維持「動則念身、靜則念息」、便是師父「四念處」的基本法門。最後達到穩定、堅固的心理狀態、能夠攝六根、離五蓋、以解脫為目標、慢慢修成「正念」。修正念需要技術、能夠隨時隨地繫念不忘、種種修行方法總括稱為「隨念」。師父教導學員提及過的隨念法門可分為「六隨念」甚至「十隨念」：「念佛」「念法」、「念僧」、「念戒」、「念施」、「念天」、「念死」、「念身」、「念息」和「念滅」 。
「正念禪修念佛學會」以「念僧」、「念身」、「念息」、「念天」和「念佛」為學習禪修目標。

「正念養心身、正氣醫未病。同心共善舉、無畏亦無諍。」
每星期一次、亞洲時間星期六早上十點(舊金山時間星期五晚上七點)、我們有一個60分鐘無宗教信仰的特別課程。我們會坐著做運動、重點在疏通經絡和拍打穴位、剩餘時間會做易筋經或五式吐納。對象由年輕人到老人家、甚至行動不方便的同學。主要是幫助血氣循環、增強腦力和免疫能力、提升新陳代謝的功能。
大家可以同步、也可以隨緣自己照自己時間做、做完希望大家得到精氣神、精精神神。

By the way, in addition to sleep improvement, it has been said that daily Ping Shuai exercise can enhance immune system, improve balance, make joints and muscles more flexible, fortify muscles, joints and bones, enhance blood and Qi circulation, replenish energy, relax, calm and clear the mind, and sharpen senses.
