I combined four shots for this Milky Way panorama and edited in Lightroom. I have several different edits and I think this is the one that looks the best. I can share some different edits if anyone expresses interest.
The above picture is of a church I found while driving around. I knew it would be difficult to capture the Milky Way behind it with all the light pollution but I figured it would be worth a shot. A good way to get this shot would be to know someone who could turn the lights off for you and then take two shots, one with lights off and one with them on.
It was a perfect night for Milky Way photography so I drove up to Picacho Peak only to discover that they had a big light right over the location that I wanted to take photos at. I made the most of it and even though you can see the tripod and my reflection I was still happy with the shot. I have a larger panorama and a very short time-lapse I may post later if anyone ins interested.
I was filming the fire and of course a helicopter had to fly all over the place creating an interesting effect. You never know what you are going to get when you are taking photos or video of the night sky.
I captured this panoramic shot while looking for places with interesting landscape to capture the milky way. This is three photos combined in order to capture the full glory of the milky way. I used lightroom to edit and to stitch the three photos together. It was a perfect new moon night with no clouds and only slight light pollution from the city in the distance. It was a pretty cold night, cold for Arizona anyways but nothing like what others are experiencing with snow and ice.

Some of you may be curious about the extreme edit I uploaded the other day. Here is what it looked like with just a basic Lightroom edit I typically do with most of my Milky Way photos.
Do you have a preference?
I took this back in 2013 with my Canon EOS T3I and wanted to try and see if I could get a better edited version out of it now with more modern software.
