Robert Minott Presents - Open Up To Me (Album Sampler) (199x) (Mixed by Don Won)
and another one !!! this week i'll introduce you 'Robert Minott' probably well known for his solo Reggae career through the music industry. here you go with one of his first albums, unfortunately no year is related to this album, so i can't even be sure if it's one of his debut albums, but we can definitely guess it by listening to his songs ! indeed, you will understand that his whole album contains a lot of New Jack Swing influences in the up tempo track like 'My Number One' or 'I Want You Bad' which was definitely the mark of the earlier 90's, so this album is surely from the early 90's years, but can't tell you exactly which year, it's noticed nowhere on the credits inside the album.
i deceive to drop it because i wanted to do something special on this one & chance a little bit, you will experience differents style one this one, from New Jack Swing/R&B to pure Reggae, from Up Tempo music (like said previously 'My Number One' or 'I Want You Bad' or even 'I Need You') to Slow Tempo jams (like 'Open Up To Me' the album's song, but also 'Sex Fiend') to Reggae influenced songs (like 'Foul Play' or 'Jamaica Honey Love'). so in a certain way, we can say that Robert Minott did try to satisfy the people by singing differents styles/influences of music or maybe he was tryin' to search his personal style. anyway, quality album before anything !
wanted to also notice that remixes of 'Sex Fiend' existed & were recorded, but as i didn't have them, i couldn't include them in this mix, but a hard work was made on this album, definitely ! from the catchy instrumentals on the tracks to the Robert Minott's hooks on the tracks which will remain as great even for an Independent/Local artist like him.
Independent/Local artist from Houston, Texas, USA back in the early 90's which was signed under: 'Hill To Hill Records'. i'll never say it enough: Houston, Texas had the best musical talents back then, the SOUTH in da house ya'll !!!
