We just spent the last 32 hours driving over to Beaver Lake to visit some friends. We had a ton of fun and spent lots of time in and around the water. So much fun that prior to leaving for the track, Chappy took himself into the bedroom for a nap. Have you eve tried to get an angry bear to ride a bike? Turns our Winnebagoland was on the way back to grandpas house so we stopped in to see if they had a loaner bike we could use. We were in luck and Chappy got lucky 250. After just one lap, Chappy came in and said he couldn't breathe. We had him get some water and sent him on his way. One lap later and more tears. I think he just got overwhelmed in a new place and wanted mom at the gate. Heat 1 came and Chappy was able to be on the inside of Memphis. This helped him get to the corner first even though it looks like Memphis upgraded to a new 20" wheel bike. Congrats on the new bike! This allowed him to rest and get some food before the main. Being the dad I am, I got him a hot dog, popcorn, and airhead. At the Main he was on the outside and typically if you're not first to the corner with this group, you're not first. After a slow start in 3rd, he was able to cut in before the turn and tuck in behind Memphis. Then drafted him and passed on the outside of turn 2 for the lead. From that point it was all Chappy as he racks up his 6th win in Novice. He now has 2 Rad Canyon Indoor, 2 Rad Canyon Outdoor, and 2 Winnebagoland wins. Chappy has a triathlon coming up soon and with schedules this might be it for Wisconsin BMX. Next up will be Great Salt Lake Nationals. With the outdoor season coming to an end soon we made sure to attend this single point race at Rad Canyon BMX. Rue has been working hard at pedaling and can almost do the entire track. Since she needs help around, we kept her in the mini-pedal class for kids that want to try pedals, but aren't able to do the entire track. She rocked it with a second place finish in each heat. Go Rue! Chappy was excited for his race, especially when he heard that he would race against Rowan again. Last time they raced was in June so we were curious how it would go. Overall, I'd say they are pretty even when it comes to time around the track. Chappy has a faster start, but he's not en endurance BMX racer and lacks the pumping skills of Rowan. It always makes for an exciting race, even if they're competing for 2nd and 3rd. I'm excited to see these kids race more in 5 and soon to be 6 Intermediate. Should make them both faster. Just one more weekend of racing. Crossing the fingers the weather holds out and we can do the Halloween race.
