Craig Sager roasts Rudy Martzke - USA Today TV sports columnist
In June 2000, USA Today's TV Sports columnist and the paper's initial sports editor; Rudy Martzke was subject of a celebrity roast and charity golf tournament in Biloxi Mississippi at the Beau Rivage Casino Resort. His previous career in basketball front offices with NCAA, ABA & NBA teams in cities such as Buffalo, Miami, St. Louis and roles as a sportswriter for several newspapers provided fodder for much comedy.
Here are some highlight excerpts from the dinner including sports broadcaster Craig Sager's good natured, but none the less well prepared biting attacks. Other roasters on the dais that night included Dr. Jack Ramsay, Cris Collinsworth, Randy Cross, Lee Corso, Ken Stabler, Tom Dorsey, Brent Musburger, Billy Packer, Fred Hickman, Vince Cellini, Spencer Tillman and gracious event MC's Tim Brando and Danny Sheridan.

San Antonio TX based saxophonist Ant Thomas Martinez tries out his recently acquired circa 1953 King Saxophone made in Ohio that he's dubbed "The Silver Swan". The tune is called Rollin' Right and performed with an improvisational combo he's nicknamed the Hustle featuring fellow San Antonian raised percussionist Vince DeJesus, recent Cuban emigre Yadier Noa Chamble on bass, and Minneapolis raised and Dave Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet alum Javier Santiago on the keys. Performed during a Friday Night Lakehouse Jazz sesh at the Stow Lake Boat House in Golden Gate Park, the musicians seen here are all on the forefront of a 21st century Bay Area jazz renaissance.

Tammy Faye Bakker Messner at the Castro Theater Nov 8th 2001
Tales of her disastrous life with Jim Bakker are sprinkled with pleas for tolerance, respect, and love for all people, and accompanied by the song “If Life Hands You a Lemon (Make Lemonade).”
“Jim got a life sentence,” says Tammy Faye, shaking her head when people applaud. “No, no. It's sad. And our 14-year- old son became a drug addict. But, by the grace of God, he's cured now, and he's just preached to 5,000 young people in Chicago.”
Finally, as the clock approaches midnight, Tammy Faye asks the crowd to reach under their seats for the American flags taped there. In remembrance of the horrible attack on “Sept. 9,” we wave our flags while Tammy Faye sings “America the Beautiful” in the historic Castro Theater.
It is an unforgettable moment.
Despite entreaties from her management, the exhausted Tammy Faye stays onstage another hour, signing lemons, photos, and Diet Coke cans for the hundred people who stay behind for autographs.
“She really moved me,” says a man with a pierced septum and blue hair. “I wanted to see her up close and shake her hand.”
A few days later, Tammy Faye Bakker Messner is overheard talking to Angie Dickinson in Saks Fifth Avenue in Los Angeles, saying, “I've never felt as much pure love in a room as I did in the Castro Theater.” - Silke Tudor review excerpt from the SF Weekly , complete story here http://www.sfweekly.com/news/the-tammy-faye-show/

Live from the PianoFight in San Francisco
Beserkley's Finest perform a track from their spankin' new black & yellow splatter vinyl Lp on YepRoc "From Home".
The song is a musical tribute to late great female drummer Honey Lantree of the Joe Meek produced 60's group The Honeycombs.
Dunbar/Prophet written lyrics:
I saw her first on TV
Pounding on a four piece set of drums
’Till then it was a mystery
I’d always wondered where that sound was from
You got your Charlies and your Ringos
You got your jazz guys with their bongos
But I’ll take Honey
Honey from the Honeycombs
Honey from the Honeycombs
Honey from the
The bass drum starts to thumping
Gets my heart a-pumping deep inside
She’s up there on the bandstand
Counting off the numbers, laying down the time
I know it’s crazy but I just can’t stop it
You got a lot of choices rocking
But I’ll take Honey
Honey from the Honeycombs
Honey from the Honeycombs
Honey from the
If I was to strap my Burns on, crank it up real loud
Would she play along, play along?
You got your Charlies and your Ringos
You got your jazz guys with their bongos
But I’ll take Honey
Honey from the Honeycombs
Honey from the Honeycombs
Honey from the
Honey from the Honeycombs
I know it’s crazy
Honey from the Honeycombs
I can’t stop
Honey from the
