Still in a Cheap Trick mood and wanted to play the awesome Epiphone Les Paul Modern! Here's another oldie!

"Keep On Loving You" is from REO Speedwagon's 1980 album 'Hi-Infidelity' and is written by Kevin Cronin.
From Wikipedia: "It was the first REO Speedwagon single to break the top 50 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, reaching the number-one spot for one week in March 1981. The single was certified Platinum for U.S. sales of over one million copies. It peaked at number seven in the UK Singles Chart."
SIGNAL CHAIN:

WORD OF WARNING: I DO mess up several times in this recording. That's why its a 'work in progress'. I'm still learning the song as I get over my SHEER TERROR of it! haha! Yes, this song - like "Foreplay/Long Time" did before it - INTIMIDATES me. So, I'm doing this for 2 reasons:
1. To get over my fear of the song (and learning to play it)
2. To show my subscribers and friends my progress in it
So, please be tolerant! This is one of my all-time favorite Boston songs.
SPECIAL NOTE: The clean guitar part I do behind the chorus - where it follows the acoustic somewhat - is my own doing. It's my little personal touch to the song. Anyone who's ever known me knows that I always try to be different than others - if even a little.
'Hitch A Ride' is from Boston's 1976 self-titled debut album and is written by Tom Scholz. Originally called 'San Francisco Day', it was later changed for the release of the Boston debut.
SIGNAL CHAIN:
GUITAR: Monoprice/Indio 66 DLX Plus (Les Paul Goldtop). Given to me in 2020 by Monoprice in exchange for 3 'jamming' videos that they could put up on their social media. I was not then, and am not now, sponsored by Monoprice. It was a one-shot deal. And, I got an awesome guitar out of it! UPGRADED in March 2021 with Guitar Madness 'Hight Output' humbuckers (DiMarzio Super Distortion copies/hexbuckers). They sound excellent!

The SECOND Boston test for the Dean Thoroughbred. I haven't played this one in a couple years! It's such a blast to play! The Thoroughbred X-QM handles it perfectly, in my opinion!
'Cool The Engines' is from Boston's 1986 album 'Third Stage' and is written by Tom Scholz, Fran Sheehan, and Brad Delp.
SIGNAL CHAIN:
GUITAR: Dean Vendetta X-QM - Purchased for $430 from zZounds.com in early December 2021. The ONLY thing I had to do to this guitar was do the regular set-up I do with all my guitars (String height, string stretching, intonation, graphite power in the nut slots, pickup height). HOWEVER, I didn't have to do any truss rod adjusting or ANY fret work! That aspect was perfect! This guitar came with a checklist of what they did before it left the factory - and they did EVERYTHING on the list! Nice! A nice, lightweight, LP style guitar!

Every time I take out my Epiphone Les Paul Standard '60s, it always amazes me what a great job they did with this guitar! When I was shopping for a new Les Paul a few months back, it was a toss-up between this one, the '50s Standard, and the 1959. Well, the 1959 was going to take until the SUMMER to be back in stock, and the '50s didn't have that Jimmy Page/Classic Les Paul color that I wanted. The '60s one did - so, I opted for it.
Also, I prefer the bigger volume and tone knobs on it. I do a lot of volume changes in some of the covers I do - especially Boston. So, I needed something I could get at quick. The standard 'witch hat' knobs are just too small and fumbly for my big fingers!
I did this cover because I was messing with the 1959 Marshall Amp (RR) model that is in the Overloud TH-U '60s amp pack. Sounds excellent!
This lovely guitar feels like, and sounds like, every classic Gibson Les Paul I've ever had my hands on. Screw the Epiphone haters and Gibson snobs. This guitar ROCKS!!!
'Uncle Salty' is from Aerosmith's 1975 album 'Toys In The Attic' and is written by Tom Hamilton and Steven Tyler.
SIGNAL CHAIN:
GUITAR: Epiphone Les Paul Standard 60s - Purchased for $599 (in installments) from zZounds.com. - Stock. No mods. (I doubt it will ever need them!)

Attempting to do my best John Entwistle here! Sorry for low volume. It's been one of those mornings. I just woke up an hour and a half ago. So, I'm still not fully coffee'd! Enjoy!
'A Man Is A Man' is from The Who's 1982 album "It's Hard" and is written by Pete Townshend.
SIGNAL CHAIN:
GUITAR: Squier Affinity P/J Bass - Bought for $200 from zZounds.com . It's now $230 because Fender raised their prices across the board. But, it's still worth every penny! Great bass for sure!

I've heard different people in the last few years complain about Roswell pickups. 'Certain types of people' have said they're garbage. They're NOT. Here they are doing a quick Boston solo using Kuassa Amplifikation 360 and my own mutation of Kuassa's original Boston preset. The amp from Kuassa being used is the 'Creme' model (a white Marshall sim).
'Used To Bad News' is from Boston's 1978 album "Don't Look Back" and is written by the late, INCREDIBLY great, Brad Delp.
SIGNAL CHAIN:
GUITAR: Harley Benton SC-450plus (Single Cut) Les Paul - Stock. No mods. - Bought for $186 shipped from Thomann in Germany. This guitar is EVERY BIT a Les Paul. It feels/plays/sounds like every Gibson I've ever had my paws on.

Yep! The Michael Kelly '53 DB also does VAN HALEN! And, in my opinion, it does it very well!
"Runnin' With The Devil" is from Van Halen's 1978 self-titled debut album and is written by Alex Van Halen, Eddie Van Halen, Michael Anthony, and David Lee Roth.
SIGNAL CHAIN:
GUITAR: Michael Kelly '53 DB (Telecaster type) - $400 on zZounds (or wherever you can find them being sold). The body is Alder. The neck is Maple. The fretboard is Pau Ferro. Bone nut. Modern C shaped neck. Rockfield humbuckers (pickups). Coil Splitting on both pickups which can be done separately for a range of tones. Well worth $400, in my opinion. The fit and finish are top notch, the playability is excellent, and the sound is seriously nice!

Here's a song I've never done before! I was always intimidated by the solo. But, I decided to come in on the second half (for effect) and I improvise a little on it. Hopefully, Luk (Steve Lukather) will forgive me on that!
'Hold The Line' is from Toto's 1978 self-titled debut album and is written by the lovely and talented David Paich.
SIGNAL CHAIN:
GUITAR: Monoprice/Indio 66 DLX Plus (Les Paul Goldtop). Given to me in 2020 by Monoprice in exchange for 3 'jam' videos that they could put up on their social media. NO, I'm not sponsored by Monoprice. I'm not sponsored by anyone.
UPGRADES (March 2021): Guitar Madness 'Hight Output' humbuckers (DiMarzio Super Distortion copies/hexbuckers). They sound excellent! It also has Graphtech 'Ratio' Locking Tuners, a GraphTech 'ResoMax' graphite bridge, and a GraphTech Tusq Nut.

Taking a break from the Les Pauls for this one and breaking out 'Brandi' - my Jackson JS22 Archtop. She's a great guitar for sure! Definitely VERY suited to the 80's stuff!
SPECIAL NOTE: I didn't do the solo on this one because I don't have the foot-pedals that Trevor Rabin does. So, I worked within my limits.
'Owner Of A Lonely Heart' is from the 1983 Yes album '90125' and is written by Trevor Rabin, Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, and Trevor Horn.
SIGNAL CHAIN:
GUITAR: Jackson JS22 'Dinky' - Named 'Brandi' for a very good friend of mine - Stock. No mods. I never had a single issue with the Jackson stock pickups. They do exactly what I need them to do without fail!
