This experiment involves setting up a DC current loop so phones or modems can come alive and interact without needing a landline service.
Then an AC ring voltage is added to the simulated phone line so the phones or modems can ring when on-hook.
This is the first step in a bigger project where more complete functionality will be added to the system.

Taking advantage of a few sales, I bought a new overhead LED shop light fixture, a heavy duty hydraulic shop stool, and several part storage tray cabinets.
I haven't had a dedicated work space for electronics in a long time so the test equipment and parts have been all over the house. I decided to finally pick a corner in the basement and start building up a work environment for projects.
Now I can focus on building and experimenting with some projects.
To test out the new work bench, I opened a few eBay shipments including:
Surface mount resistor kit
1K - 1M Potentiometer assortment
Flat Flex Cable connectors (surface mount)
PCB break out boards for flat flex connectors to 0.1 inch through hole
And analyzing some specs of a multi turn potentiometer

PCBWay Supports High Precision Advanced PCBs: https://www.pcbway.com/
This PCB provides an I2C interface to control 555 timer frequency and the ability to switch multiple audio channels on and off to create simple or complex tones, melodies, or sound effects.
Arduino Uno is used as the I2C controller in this project.
This PCB can be ordered from PCBWay (I will receive a small commission):

This sketchy tool uses an ATTiny 1604 with an OLED and rotary encoder to allow setting a number, representing test data or a sketch variable byte.
When the rotary encoder button is pressed, the byte is sent over I2C to another project that is being worked on.
That project can then use the data however it chooses, to help with functional testing or tweaking a software setting without having to go re-upload software for minor tweaks.

Shown are two ways to removing solder bridges between IC pins on a surface mount chip.
The copper braid works well but if you have flux available, it can also be used to fix bridges. Flux helps solder flow away from the bridging area and down to the pads or away to the soldering iron tip.
