Jay Cunning - DIGGING DEEP INTO 1991 | Part 1 (13/1/2023 We Are Hardcore)
Part one of 2 special mixes from Jay Cunning. An impressive his very own, pride and joy, vinyl box. Still in mint condition by the sound of it. No tracklist for pt.1, yet.
Classic anthem by Bruno Sanchioni, ⅓ of B.B.E ("7 Days and 1 Week"... which you can very easily tell if you play the 2 back2back)& Giuseppe Chierchia, a guy better known for that much sampled disco tune (the one in "Getting Jiggy With it" and "Don't call me Baby"... Ring a bell? Don't ask how I know that ... just... don't ok? ???).
Classed as *"the first trance tune ever made",* which it pretty much is, from way back in 1990. It sounded great then; great in 1992 when Jam & Spoon 's "Watch out for Stella" remix updated for the millions of new ravers (which I included because many ravers aren't aware that's not the original version), it's been great all the times it's been remixed, whether the old skool or the new versions (the only thing out of sync is the description of THIS Particular "age".
More "the age that needs love".
tracks:
Age of Love
1. Jam & Spoon Watch Out For Stella Mix
2. Sign of the Times remix.
3. OPM remix
4. Boeng remix
Mark Skelton (no relation to Les...so they claim haha!) a more technical DJ. I'm officially on a bittersweet Niche Nostalgia-fest...And it's led me to this gem of a tune I've been searching for at about 48:00 I only heard it 3 times in my life 1996-2000, whenever I asked it was "IGA feeling" or more informatively "White label" by "Unknown". I apologize for the sound quality in the others, this ain't bad & the Danny Walker mix sounds great .
Huge peak-time floorfilling anthem.
Massive in all departments, massive vocal hook, massive hands in the air breakdown/build up, memorable riff, bass loaded rhythm...
There's so many dozens of different remixes of this tune! So I opted for the seriously hard Knuckleheadz Remix, the originals ("It's Over Mix" and the "Raw demo"), finishing with the pumping, Perpetual Motion cut up!
The unmixed Reactivate 10 tunes.

This I had on tape (remember those? Lol), I'd already bought the mixed version of Reactivate, 10 but the sonic orgasm called "Lost In Love" by Legend B, was one of those tunes that I fell in love with, and just had to have in full. Other stand out tracks (which on this selection is saying something):
DJ Misjah & DJ Tim - "Access", an absolutely raging ACIIIIID Techno banger.
Li Kwan - Point Zero, the definition of ethereal, spine tingly melodic euphoria.
Damn fine selecta!
Don't worry though, if you've been listening to these in order, and have noted the light years in different style between Volume 1 to 10, & are you're loving the bangin' trance...GREAT AS THIS IS, it's just the start of the full throttle mixed phase of this seies, Blu Peter becoming the trademark DJ of (He returns to top form, mixing.... imo...The ABSOLUTE BEST IN THE SERIES: Reactivate 12!
Reactivate 11 Choci's not-quite-as-great-mixing-but-fantastic tunes❤️
Trip-hop/Downtempo has come a long way since. But it's spiritual birthplace is right here. Eternally frozen in time, with the soul of Shara Nelson (RIP).
whose haunting, uniquely moving voice
in "Unfinished Sympathy" could be officially be used as against Skynet, as a way of routing out terminimator's from humans.
There is a remastered version, but the sentimental nostalgic, old skool purist in me, insists on uploading the original in all it's crackling glory (minus the crackles). Soulful, ultra-chilled, stylish and timeless.

White knuckle old skool acid trax from Detroit Techno legend Ritchie Hawtin.
Side A: "Overkill"
Side B: "Frenz-E" and "Open Your Mind" (that creepy sample from total Recall again...)
Abduction was known for the longest time to be Eat Static's 1st album as the initial hype over their unmistakable banging style grew. (officially the 2nd album but "Prepare Your Spirit" was really more of a random combo of records, available on tape for a limited time at VERY SAVVY record shops).
It's easy to see why though.
Abduction feels like a much more refined & wholesome musical journey, beginning, middle & end, by a band that found their sound.
Confidently delivered, signature E.S weird "WTF?" FX, cool , funny & bizarre vocal/noise samples. Amazingly deep, analogue soundscapes, funky, catchy, expertly crafted synth riffs, rhythms, basslines, sequences & layering. Electronica so ahead of time, many ravers only discovered their music years later. Although '93 was a year underground tunes got more innovative, trancey
... E.S's sound has the blueprints for Acid Techno, Psychedelic trance, trip hop, breakbeat & Detroit techno without setting any boundaries. Superb.
