ABOUT THIS EPISODE:
The #metoo Harvey Weinstein hype simplifies and idealizes female sexuality. All the abuse stories that are being shared must support a specific collective narrative. Kate points at taboo in this narrative, and explores it.
We are also very much interested in the psychology of Harvey Weinstein. And we want him to produce a film about him, that we will make.

Enjoy ''Reasons of Ego''. Oscar van der Kroon works for Dutch public television. He wants to do Avant Garde Television but his mediocrity is holding him back. At the end of the Episode, he promises to do some introspection.

ABOUT KIRAC
KIRAC bounces into institutions, art dealers, artists, and other members of the cultural establishment, creating new artistic territory as they go. The recurring characters are living out their own cultural/mythological search for truth. Kirac is a loosely orchestrated, and meticulously assembled perspective on the different ideological and cultural frameworks that define our time. Every episode defines a specific mentally projected ‘problem’ and instead of solving the problem ideologically, Kirac ‘shows’ the labyrinths of thought and their institutionalised and sometimes enforced hierarchies.

Dasha’s Scary is filled with female characters engaging in lesbian love and some sex with unimpressive male dorks. A dominant, aggressive, male entity is present however, but only in a distant, metaphysical symbolic sense: in the form of Jeffrey Epstein and the mystery that surrounds him. What is the meaning of this? Whilst talking about the film and its quality as a film, Kate and Stefan stumble upon this question and try to answer it.
Some other artist and artworks that come up:
Ryan trecartin, Citizen Kane, Marilyn Monroe, Taxi Driver, Cindy Sherman, Elizabeth Taylor, Red Scare, I hate myself:) by Joanna Arnow, Britney spears, Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, Lilya4ever, Easy rider, Blow Up.

What is KIRAC?
In their gonzo-journalistic films and video essays, you can see the members of team-KIRAC bounce into institutions, art dealers, artists, and other members of the cultural establishment, creating new artistic territory as they go. They fill up this new territory with excluded artists, marginality, new ideas and atavisms. The recurring characters are living out their own cultural/mythological search for truth. KIRAC is a loosely orchestrated, and meticulously assembled perspective on the different ideological and cultural frameworks that define our time. Every episode is defined by a specific mentally projected ‘problem’ of which KIRAC shows the labyrinths of thought and their institutionalised hierarchies.

KIRAC Ep. 1 - Verontwaardiging in De Appel.
2016 Maart 29
