Lake Champlain is an amazing place. If you are a bass angler this is the a place everyone needs to experience. It doesn't have the biggest bass in the country but it certainly does have the numbers. Fish up to 4 pounds are common and you can get into a few 5 pound plus fish as well! Lake Champlain is special because there is so many techniques that you can use to catch fish. Whatever your strength is you can do that here. It is also a great place to learn new techniques and experiment with new baits. So not only is the fishing amazing on Lake Champlain but the scenery is pretty cool as well....some parts of Lake Champlain will remind you of a lake in Florida with all the vegetations. Thick matts and lush submerged vegetation. Other parts of the lake have a mountain view and cliffs along the shoreline. This past spring has been a bit cooler and so it pushed back a lot of the spawn. For the most part the fish down at the southern end of Lake Champlain have already spawned along with the fish in the northern sections. The upper and main lakes section still has plenty of fish on beds. I have always said that if it is a sight fishing tournament and other are looking at them you have to be in order to compete as well. This was the case this week. I had 2 days of practice so I had to try and figure out a way to put a plan together and find these fish fast.
