We flew first to Rome and then the next day on to Frankfurt, Germany, Bangkok and Bali. it was a pretty long trip but it went smooth considering all the hassles and regulations involved with moving around these days. When we arrived in Bali we suddenly realized it is a magical place with a very relaxed atmosphere, very friendly and smiling locals and a traditional culture so strongly embedded in the society here. Even if the place may seem touristy at first it hasn't lost its original appeal. The people here mostly follow Hindu religion even if Indonesia is a Muslim country. it's a unique place.all houses have a family temple inside where the families pray and honour their deities. Many people here still dress with original Balinese outfits. We found that the people here look in a way pretty similar to Filipinos and they confused me with a local several times. Also the language has similarities and they also love rice like us.Food is more spicy though and my husband is very happy about it.the hotel room that we booked , has typical Balinese furniture and is more like a suite with a beautiful balcony filled with Buddhist statues overlooking a thick equatorial forest and the price we paid(including breakfast) is not expensive at all.
