Matera is a city lost in time, in the south of Italy, just 70 km from Bari, you will go back to the age when regular people used to inhabit its caves from the era of primitive men, through the Middle Ages and until the 1950's. you will see the ancient churches inside caves with thousands of years paintings(it was not possible to film those). The city of Matera has been used in several movies and was even the main set for the "Passion of Christ" by Mel Gibson. When Mel Gibson was asked how much money he had spent for the scenography of his movie he replied that he had to pay the cast and the actors but that the scenography was free as there was nothing to change and everything looked (and it is) 1 to 2000 years old. the city has been declared the cultural capital of Europe of 2019. it is probably one of the most original towns in Italy and looks veruly different from everything else you will see. it is a trip back in time. the landscape around the city is pretty barren as there is not much rainfall and there is also an impressive canyon surrounding it.

Today I'm cooking "Chicken Afritada", another Filipino classic. This colorful dish is made with chicken, onion, garlic, tomatoes, potatoes and bell peppers. I have used fresh cherry tomatoes instead of tomato paste because in my opinion it tastes even better :)

After having had our first pretty big breakfast in Uzbekistan at the hotel we decide to go and see how they prepare their national dish "Plov" or also locally known as "Osh" a real cultural and culinary experience on a very hot summer day. After the very good meal Marco obliges us to take a pretty long walk to Tashkent Zoo because he can't stand the Taxi that much. At the zoo all the animals of the world await us. Marco is super excited #tashkent #uzbekistan

We flew first to Rome and then the next day on to Frankfurt, Germany, Bangkok and Bali. it was a pretty long trip but it went smooth considering all the hassles and regulations involved with moving around these days.
When we arrived in Bali we suddenly realized it is a magical place with a very relaxed atmosphere, very friendly and smiling locals and a traditional culture so strongly embedded in the society here. Even if the place may seem touristy at first it hasn't lost its original appeal. The people here mostly follow Hindu religion even if Indonesia is a Muslim country. it's a unique place.all houses have a family temple inside where the families pray and honour their deities. Many people here still dress with original Balinese outfits.
We found that the people here look in a way pretty similar to Filipinos and they confused me with a local several times. Also the language has similarities and they also love rice like us.Food is more spicy though and my husband is very happy about it.the hotel room that we booked , has typical Balinese furniture and is more like a suite with a beautiful balcony filled with Buddhist statues overlooking a thick equatorial forest and the price we paid(including breakfast) is not expensive at all. This place has a magical atmosphere.
