Strike Suit Infinity - More Shooting, More Mechs, Less Story
I still love the look and feel of Strike Suit Zero, sure the idea of mechs flying around in space is dubious but it's so amazingly anime I forgive them. Strike Suit Infinity is a standalone game that removes the storyline and instead offers a score attack mode as the core gameplay. Certainly worth $4.99.
I've been a bit miffed however because I bought the game on GOG.com and it has been almost unsupported while all the updates and DLC were released on Steam. So When the entire package was in the Steam summer sale for $9.99 I finally gave in. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuwCRynuz4Q

ISEE-3 was a spacecraft launched in 1978 which originally examined the solar wind and plasma environments around the edges of the Earth-Moon system. In the Early 80's some fancy orbital mechanics and a lunar gravity assist was used to put the spacecraft into deep space to encounter a couple of comets. Now 30 years later it's coming back to Earth and could use some more orbital mechanics trickery to bring it back into earth's orbit, the only problem is that the technology required to talk to the spacecraft has been 'retired'. So a team at Skycorp is racing against time to build a replacement and command the spacecraft back into a captured orbit.

It's been a long time since I looked at this game and it's continued to improve in early access now. The 2d universe exploration and ship building game implements a lot of ideas even though it's still in development.

Yesterday Elon Musk gave his long anticipated presentation about making humanity a multi planet species, proposing a massive rocket that could carry 100 people on the voyage to Mars.
Needless to say, this sounded like a fun Kerbal challenge.

Betelgeuse is the reddest star visible in the night sky, a red supergiant a few hundred light years from Earth it's likely to become a supernova in the next hundred thousand years or so. Recently it faded and became half as luminous as usual, and some more clickbaity publications suggested a supernova might be imminent.
And that would be amazing.
But don't place any bets on it, all the science suggests it's still young enough that it's burning helium, so we have plenty of time to watch it being Orion's shoulder.

'Doing it like Elon Musk' challenge was set to perform a powered landing of a capsule from orbit, but instead of nice throttleable Super Draco thrusters let's do it all with solid rocket boosters.

0.21 is the forthcoming update to Kerbal Space Program, I had a chance to take a quick journey around some of the redesigned graphics, the crew management system and experience the new improved stabilization system. Since making this C7 has ensured that all the stock spacecraft have been updated with power systems to keep the reaction wheels powered.

Return of the Obra Dinn is the brainchild of Lucas Pope, best known for Papers Please. The game is another experiment in story telling using a unique 1 bit colour depth graphics system combined with a game mechanic that involves investigating the fate of the crew and passengers using a magic pocket watch.
This is only a demo, it's not even the first demo of the game that has been released, but it's shown a lot of progress in terms of visual design.

After OSIRIS REx grabbed a sample a coupe of weeks ago many people remarked on how the asteroid just seemed to disintegrate when sampled. Some commenters took this fragility as a sign the asteroids would just disintegrate in the atmosphere before it hit the surface of earth.
Unfortunately that's not the case, Bennu is so large that it would still hit the surface, albeit in fragments and still cause massive amounts of damage.
