From the band Falkenstein. Witches were often great women (and also men) who knew how to heal the people with herbs or knew much about the old Germanic gods and customs. The church didn't like that and spread propaganda against those people being ugly and devilish to have a reason to burn them. Reality looks very different of course. They were very wise and friendly people trying to help the people with more than just prayers. Let me add, that indeed witches were not systematically hunted in the middle ages. The hunts began in the early modern/ renaissance times.

Doch bleibt treu eurer Christenpflicht!"
[6x]
So wurde im Namen Gottes,
Die letzte Kräuterhexe verbrannt!

This is a modern High German version from the band Transit, of this old legend. The real Hildebrandslied is in Old High German.
The Hildebrandslied (Lay or Song of Hildebrand) is a heroic lay written in Old High German alliterative verse. It is the earliest poetic text in German, and it tells of the tragic encounter in battle between a father (Hildebrand) and a son (Hadubrand) who does not recognize him. It is the only surviving example in German of a genre which must have been important in the oral literature of the Germanic tribes.
The text was written in the 830s on two spare leaves on the outside of a religious codex in the monastery of Fulda. The two scribes were copying from an unknown older original, which itself must ultimately have derived from oral tradition. The story of Hildebrand and Hadubrand almost certainly goes back to 7th or 8th century Lombardy and is set against the background of the legendary conflict between Theodoric and Odoacer in 5th century Italy. The fundamental story of the father and son who fail to recognize each other on the battlefield is much older and is found in a number of Indo-European traditions.
The manuscript itself has had an eventful history: twice looted in war but eventually returned to its rightful owner, twice moved to safety shortly before devastating air-raids, repeatedly treated with chemicals by 19th century scholars, once almost given to Hitler, and torn apart and partly defaced by dishonest book dealers. It now resides, on public display, in a secure vault in the Murhard Library in Kassel.
The text is highly problematic: as a unique example of its genre, with many words not found in other German texts, its interpretation remains controversial. Difficulties in reading some of the individual letters and identifying errors made by the scribes mean that a definitive edition of the poem is impossible. One of the most puzzling features is the dialect, which shows a mixture of High and Low German spellings which cannot represent any actually spoken dialect.
In spite of the many uncertainties over the text and continuing debate on the interpretation, the poem is widely regarded as the first masterpiece of German literature.

"Rufst du, mein Vaterland" is the former national anthem of Switzerland. It had semi-official status as the national anthem from the 1850s to 1961, when it was replaced by the Swiss Psalm.[1] Its text was written in 1811 by Bernese philosophy professor Johann Rudolf Wyss.
The tune of the anthem was the same as in "God Save the King" (1745), a tune which became widely adopted in Europe, first as the hymn of Denmark (1790), later also as that of Switzerland, and as that of the United States as "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" (1831). The German hymn "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" (1795, adopted as the Prussian anthem after 1815) to the same tune is an adaptation of the Danish lyrics.
As in the American "My Country, 'Tis of Thee", the lyrics replace the image of the monarch with that of the fatherland, and the promise to defend it "with heart and hand" (mit Herz und Hand), the "hand" replacing the "voice" praising the king of the original lyrics. The pact to defend the homeland militarily is made explicit in the first verse,

Ich leb im Land, der vielen deutschen Stämme;
I live in the country of many German tribes;
There’s great sense of honor to be a child of yours.
It is not uncommon for me to travel far away
I never forget who I am.
You will remain my home Saxony-Anhalt.
Könnt keine schön're Heimat haben
Und dafür streite ich für dich.
Und du schönes Sachsen-Anhalt lebst für mich.
Könnt keine schön're Heimat haben
Und dafür streite ich für dich.
Und du schönes Sachsen-Anhalt lebst für mich.
Couldn't have a better homeland
And therefore I fight for you.
And beautiful Saxony-Anhalt, you live for me.
Couldn't have a better homeland
And therefore I fight for you.
And beautiful Saxony-Anhalt, you live for me.
Kehr ich heim freu ich mich auf grünen Wald;
When I come home, I look forward to green forests;
A glass of Garley, Pottsuse hot and cold.
My heart becomes so light along the Romanesque street.
I am at home as far as the eye can see.
Bin selig dich und mich zu wissen
Und fleißig arbeit ich für dich.
Und du schönes Sachsen-Anhalt lebst für mich.
I am happy to know you and me
And I work hard for you.
And you beautiful Saxony-Anhalt, you live for me.
Zeit deines Lebens bist du ständig in Gefahr,
Throughout your life you are in constant danger,
Present yourself sometimes open and sometimes hidden.
And if they have given you up, forbid us to speak
Faithfulness lived on in our hearts.
Immer kehren schwere Zeiten, ich lasse dich niemals im Stich;
Und du schönes Sachsen-Anhalt lebst für mich.
Ja immer kehren schwere Zeiten, ich lasse dich niemals im Stich;
Und du schönes Sachsen-Anhalt lebst für mich.
Difficult times always come, I will never let you down;
And beautiful Saxony-Anhalt, you live for me.
Difficult times always come, I'll never let you down;
And beautiful Saxony-Anhalt, you live for me.

Es geht durch die Welt ein Geflüster
Arbeiter, hörst due s nicht?
Das sind die Stimmen der Kriegsminister
Arbeiter, hörst du sie nicht?
Es flüstern die Kohle- und Stahlproduzenten
Es flüstert die chemische Kriegsproduktion
Es flüstert von allen Kontinenten
Mobilmachung gegen die Sowjetunion!
Arbeiter, Bauern, nehmt die Gewehre
Nehmt die Gewehre zur Hand.
Zerschlagt die faschistische Räuberherde
Setzt eure Herzen in Brand!

Soldatenlieder singen!
Drum frisch auf, Kameraden,
den Becher zur Hand,
zwei Sechsen auf den Tisch.
Die beiden sind für die Seeligkeit,
das langt für dich und mich.
