Short video that talks about some simple checks to see if your projector lamp is worn out. I also go over one method that you can use to confirm the legitimacy of your Osram bare lamp. This is not a foolproof method but it is pretty reliable.
The simple checks for the condition of the lamp apply to any brand such as Philips, Ushio, Phoenix, Matsushita, and Osram.

Had a day job customer with this BenQ HT1085ST contact me after the new lamp they installed didn't stay running. It would shut down after 30min or so and give an overheat warning. They had tried to clean it but when they put it back together, it wouldn't work properly. I had him send it in to give it a once over and this video shows what I found. He was really close and may have been successful but I suspect he went a little faster than he should have. fortunately he knew when he was in over his head and I was able to put it all back together properly and get him up and running.
As I'm typing this it is running for the 3rd time. The past 2 times I ran it for 30min, then 2 hours and now 3 hours. Once I finish this test run, it will be packed up to send back to him.
This projector had a lot of dust inside as you can see on the case, but the customer had cleaned it out before sending it. I wiped the top down after the fact.

Picked this up at a store called Rural King when out in the mid-west a few weeks ago. Cost about $9 and works really well. I plan on using it for bench lighting at home.

Mitsubishi HC3800 was sent in because a new lamp didn't work. Turns out there is no function aside from the LEDs. No fans or lamp or even an attempt to light the lamp because of a power supply failure.
For some reason I keep calling Viewsonic , Vivitek. When you hear Vivitek, I mean Viewsonic.

I was sent an InFocus IN2128HDx that was suffering from a temp error after a new lamp was installed. The old lamp had shattered, spewing molten quartz all over. This caused the lamp fan to get jammed.
During shipping, most of the quartz broke free and was all over the box and inside of the projector.
The cause was dust build up of course. The owner had tried to resolve it themselves and got it pretty close but there was some incorrectly assembled bits and some more thorough cleaning needed. It ended up happy as you will see. Thanks for watching!
*It was supposed to be a two part video but I made it one part.
If you need a lamp for this model you can get one here that is reliable, follow this link. I am not sponsored by them but I know the lamps (at least the ones I link) are good.

Had a a high end Christie sent in to be looked at for an unknown reason. After some testing I found the color wheel to be erratic. The unit was pretty dusty inside and had all the hallmarks of being dusty inside. I ended up replacing the lens in the lamp since it only had a few hours on the bulb. This model takes two of the 003-004449-01 lamps that can be bought here https://www.purelandsupply.com/christie-projector-lamp_dhd670-e.html . Part2 will have the rest. had to chop this up into 2 videos due to the length. Thanks for watching.

Today we replace the failed color wheel inside a BenQ HT3050 Projector. There are a reasonable amount of dust build up that probably led to the wheel hub flexing from heat and that in turn caused a few segments to fail.
The owner sourced the color wheel themselves and sent everything to me for repair and cleaning. Packed VERY nicely.
This was a very straightforward repair. This also applies to the HT2050 and 2150. They are the predecessor to the 3050 and definitely show their internal influence. This model has an internal HDMI and mini USB plug that I believe is for the BenQ Wireless video option.
If you need a color wheel, send a picture of your old wheel(whatever is left) and your info to GYDZ@Timeprojectorlamp.com They are wonderful and ship DHL and use PayPal.
Here is a link to the lamp assembly. It uses the same Osram bulb as the original. Use code YT50 at checkout to save 5% as well as get free ground shipping regardless of the code or not. https://www.purelandsupply.com/benq-lcd-projector-lamp_ht3050.html

These Optoma TH1060 DLP Projectors were sent in by a viewer who uses them for outside holiday decorating. Halloween is a great holiday to use projectors for all sorts of neat affects.
They both worked fine for a while until at about the same time, they stopped turning on. The LED's flash but neither turn on. There was some concern about possible water exposure.
The first projector ended up being pretty straightforward. The Indicator was flashing 4x, pausing and repeating the sequence. This indicates the lamp door was open. Found the door switch had snapped off the mounting point. After repairing that with some CA glue, we were good to go.
The second TH1060 did not fair as well. The Pixelworks IC and surrounding areas were getting VERY hot. The power supply and other reasonably repairable components were fine. Replacing the Pixelworks chip or the mainboard were not viable repair options here. Unfortunately this chassis is now a parts chassis.
