The dangerous extension lead is connected to a moderate load. Even with only 6 amps the temperature rises and in 4 minutes has reached 300C and completely destroyed the cable. The plastic casing is flammable and continues to burn until it's all consumed by the fire.

Some nasty fuses which claim to comply with BS1362, but clearly are cheapo fake versions and unsuitable for use.

A plastic travel adaptor made by Fittall Products, and sold in Woolworth, price £3.95
Probably 1980s, rather unusual in that it only accepts 2 pin plugs, making it useless for the majority of appliances.
Converts to a variety of other plugs used in various countries. The round pin options are decent enough, but the flat pin options are hopeless, with the pins loose and free to rotate to any angle.

Retro style pendant set, with chrome E27 lampholder, yellow fabric covered twisted flex and a chrome ceiling rose.
Looks nice - but it's a fail.

Wiring for frost thermostats on S plan, Y plan and combination boiler heating systems. This uses two thermostats in series, the first senses air temperature and the second the temperature of the return heating pipe, so that if activated, the boiler only stays on long enough for the pipes to be heated, rather than heating the whole building.
Many boilers have internal frost protection, but that only senses temperature within the boiler, which may not be sufficient if the boiler is located in a warmer part of the building such as in an upstairs room.

A look inside a typical inline extractor fan with built in timer.
The 3 pin switching device is actually a triac rather than a transistor as mentioned in the video.

A dangerous unfused plug intended for UK socket outlets.
This is far too small, has no fuse of any kind, the pins are too short, the earth pin is sleeved and it has a pointless fake CE mark.
The flex claims to be 0.5mm² which is far too small for a 10A rated item, and the flex resistance is well over 1 ohm for each conductor so is either smaller than 0.5mm², not made of copper, or both.
Plugs like this are dangerous and if you have any like this they need to be destroyed.

Theory of operation and various problems encountered with voltage operated earth leakage circuit breakers.
These voltage operated devices have not been used in the UK for over 30 years, they are not manufactured any more, and all of them should have been replaced decades ago.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of buildings which still have them.
The replacement for one of these old VOELCBs would be an RCD - a current operated device which works in a totally different way.
