#NeveleResort #AbandonedNewYork #Catskills
The Nevele Grande Hotel was a high rise resort hotel located in Ellenville, New York. Nevele (which is eleven spelled backwards), dated back to the days of the Borscht Belt, opening it's doors in 1901.The complex is dominated by the Nevele Tower at the main entrance drive. The Nevele had a total of 430 rooms at its height. Renovations in the 1990s have obscured the notable design features of the 1960s interiors. The resort included a Waikiki Indoor pool and a health club beyond which lie the ski chalet, ski slope & ice skating rink. The resort also included an 18-hole golf course. In 1966 President Lyndon B Johnson stayed at the Nevele when he was in town to dedicate a new hospital in Ellenville. The resort struggled financially and failed to pay taxes and eventually shut down without notice after the 2009 Fourth of July weekend. The Nevele now sits abandoned and has become New York's #1 playground for Urban Explorers and Photographers.

#Explore #Abandoned #Cemetery
This is part 3 of our visit to Rutland Prison Camp in Rutland, MA.
Right in central Massachusetts, there’s an old, unmarked and eerily beautiful cemetery that almost everyone seems to have forgotten. The coolest thing about this cemetery is that it’s actually hidden behind another, slightly larger graveyard that camouflages its existence. To find the even more hidden graveyard, follow the small cart road beside the cemetery for about quarter of a mile. The road is pretty small, and eventually turns into little more than an overgrown path, but if you follow it all the way you’ll suddenly find yourself in a peculiar clearing. In 1907, the Rutland Prison Camp opened a tuberculosis hospital. Fifty-nine patient-prisoners were buried behind Goose Hill Cemetery between 1907 and 1933. Rutland Prison Camp was actually a tuberculosis experiment, where the effects of sunlight, farm work and healthy eating on tuberculosis were studied. Out of the 100 prisoners at the camp, only 41 survived their illness.
Iron crosses once marked the locations of the bodies, but those have since disappeared. There have even been some grave robberies, and at least one grave appears to have been recently dug up.

#Explore #Abandoned #SpookyWorld
Spooky World first opened its doors in Berlin, Massachusetts back in 1991. Created by David Bertolino, the original horror scream park featured haunted houses, sideshow attractions, celebrities and a notorious haunted hayride. The park was soon after deemed New England's largest and most terrifying horror scream park, becoming a household name. Seven years later, Spooky World moved its location to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts to partner with the Kraft family. With the growth and development of One Patriot Place back in 2005, Spooky World found itself looking for a new home. Displaced for a couple of years, Spooky World bounced around from Boston Bayside Expo Center (Boston, MA) and Canobie Lake Park (Salem, NH).
In the Fall of 2009, Spooky World joined forces with the horror scream park powerhouse, Nightmare New England, to create America's number one haunted destination in the Northeast. Now permanently headquartered in Litchfield, NH and run by owners Mike Accomando and Wayne Caulfield, Spooky World has once again become America’s favorite horror scream park.
After years of trying to acquire more land, Spooky World presents Nightmare New England successfully opened their newest, and most requested, haunted attraction in 2015 –a one-mile-long haunted hayride. This most recent addition sealed the deal for Spooky World to be awarded Best Haunted Attraction in 2016.
To date, Spooky World presents Nightmare New England and the Haunted Hayride invites visitors to venture into their twisted trails of terror for a night they won’t forget. Now home to 5 SEPARATE haunted attractions, the Monster Midway, zombie paintball, go-karts, mini-golf, batting cages, carnival concessions, tarot card readers, fire-pits and bars –there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Plymouth Rock is the traditional site of disembarkation of William Bradford and the Mayflower Pilgrims who founded Plymouth Colony in December 1620. The Pilgrims did not refer to Plymouth Rock in any of their writings; the first known written reference to the rock dates to 1715 when it was described in the town boundary records as "a great rock." The first documented claim that Plymouth Rock was the landing place of the Pilgrims was made by Elder Thomas Faunce in 1741, 121 years after the Pilgrims arrived in Plymouth. From that time to the present, Plymouth Rock has occupied a prominent spot in American tradition and has been interpreted by later generations as a symbol of both the virtues and the flaws of the first English people who colonized New England. In 1774, the rock broke in half during an attempt to haul it to Town Square in Plymouth. The top portion (the fragment now visible) sat in Town Square, was moved to Pilgrim Hall Museum in 1834, and was returned to its original site on the shore of Plymouth Harbor in 1880. Today it is ensconced beneath a granite canopy designed by McKim, Mead & White.

#AbandonedMissouri #IndianRidgeResort #OzarkMountains
The Ozark mountain region is home to some of the most spectacular riverways, waterfalls, caverns, springs and lakes in the United States. Once inhabited by early settlers and miners looking for gold, It is now a well-known country music mecca that has evolved into one of our country’s most popular tourist attractions and is a playland for the rich and famous. In 2006, developers broke ground on what was to be a grand 900 acre resort, complete with a 390 room resort hotel, massive indoor water park, a golf course, marina and an Indian history museum. But this luxurious resort community was not to be. With billions of dollars on the line, it was a project plagued by shady business deals, including pocketing of
investor money, cover ups of environmental hazards, corruption and lies. The masterminds behind this scandalous activity eventually faced jail time, and their all-knowing spouses received hefty fines and sentences that included probation. The shell of opulence now lies dormant…although breathtakingly beautiful from the scenic road above, what lies within is battered and beaten…left behind to rot, slowly succumbing to erosion and decaying interiors….Come along with us as we explore and breathe new life into these stately townhomes that time has forgotten...
