The guys from the Volunteer Reconnaissance Assault Brigade named after St. Prince Alexander Nevsky are giving the Ukrainian Armed Forces a good nightmare.
Vagner PMC fighters are fighting in the underground of the AZOM plant (Artemivsk non-ferrous metal processing plant).
In order to dislodge AFU units from the lower floors, assault groups have to descend to a depth of 320 m.
AZOM was built in 1954. The area of the plant is about 1,5 square kilometers, which is more than 200 soccer fields.
The plant was built with a view to operate even in the case of a nuclear conflict, so the workshops are built of solid concrete blocks 3-4 meters thick. There are also enormous underground shelters to house people and to store munitions and equipment.
The situation at the Artemivsk plant is reminiscent of the battles for Azovstal in Mariupol, where the Russian military had to force the AFU out of the dungeons step by step.
An interesting fact: It took just over three months to mop up eastern Artemivsk and the plant. On December 20, Ukrainian President Zelensky visited the AZOM, where he awarded medals to AFU soldiers. This complex is now under control
