The friction between Morrissey and Marr resulted in a flurry of singles and albums over the course of three years that provided the blueprint for British guitar rock in the following decade.

***"Stereolab"*** are an English-French avant-pop band formed in London in 1990.

Their lyrics have political and philosophical themes influenced by the ***[Surrealist](https://cutt.ly/imFnOlx)*** and ***[Situationist](https://cutt.ly/ymFnAt5)*** movements.
Although ***"Stereolab"*** found success in the underground music scene and were influential enough to spark a renewed interest in older analogue instruments, they have never had a significant commercial impact. Meaby the key is lost in the interview where ***Gane*** and ***Sadier*** have discussed their musical philosophy - *"to be unique for us was more important than to be good"*.
Despite its semi-archival status, the band’s tenth album ***Not Music***, sounds fresh, and distinct from ***"Chemical Chords"***. It shares the streamlined feel of that album, but many of these songs don’t fit that album’s distillation of lounge, **Motown**, and **French pop** elements - and those that do, sound like warped reflections of them.

***"The Smiths"***were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. critics consider the band one of the most important to emerge from the British independent music scene of the 1980s.
Based on the songwriting partnership of Morrissey and Marr, the Smiths' focus on a guitar, bass, and drum sound, and fusion of 1960s rock and post-punk, were a rejection of the synthesiser-based dance-pop of the time. The friction between Morrissey and Marr resulted in a flurry of singles and albums over the course of three years that provided the blueprint for British guitar rock in the following decade.
***"Rank"*** is the band's only live album, recorded live at The National Ballroom in London in October of 1986, roughly six months before they disbanded altogether, these 14 songs capture the Smiths performing in full-on rock-star mode.
It’s an essential part of any Smiths fan's collection, and it's an enlightening live peek at a foursome who many deem the greatest band of the 1980s, and more than a few others deem the last great band period.

Band named after the magnum opus of outsider author artist ***[Henry Darger](https://cutt.ly/bnzvoan)*** (titled *"The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion"*).
The band paired girl group melancholy with punk nihilism in reverb-heavy songs that recalled the raw, grainy beauty of lesser-known '90s independents like ***”[Black Tambourine](https://cutt.ly/pnzvsLY)”***, ***”[Talulah Gosh](https://cutt.ly/AnzvhqF)”***, and ***”[Tiger Trap](https://cutt.ly/qnzvzkr)”***.
In their initial seven-year run, the band toured the world and released new music constantly, the economic hooks and fuzzy urgency of their 2008 self-titled debut album becoming influential in their own right.
While only a band for a short while, they recorded a demo which included five original songs and a ***”Wipers”*** cover, and began to play locally in Brooklyn and Katy and Cassie's home state of New Jersey.

Throughout 2008 ***"Vivian Girls"*** released a handful of 7" singles on a passel of small labels, and Rose left the band in July,, but not before recording the material that would make up the group's self-titled debut studio album, ***”Vivian Girls”***.
Between the omnipresent slabs of reverb, the trio here flip between harmonic garage rock, gloomy melodies and flashes in a cloud of sludgy distortion and hissy noise. The vocals sound rushed and off-key, the harmonies are flat at times, and the drums often fall behind the beat as the rest of the band races for the finish line. Just perfect!
