Final Set of 3x4 140 Kgs Deadlift Back-Offs. Absolute JOKE.
This was my back-off set work after my 180 Kgs heavy top single. 140 Kgs is feeling more and more like absolutely NOTHING, now. Just ragdolling it. I am really trying to focus on getting a quick and consistent setup, driving as much force in to the bar as possible and being explosive, while also being as controlled as I can. These sets are feeling really good, and I am feeling stronger every session ??
Man, I was not feeling strong at all today. Ques felt off, unracking game was really off, etc. However, my MIND wanted to excel. Despite everything, having 110 percent confidence makes all of the difference. The hardest part was just unracking the bar, but the rep itself went just fine. I just realized that you can't quite see all of the weight on the bar, particularly the 2.5 Kg plate at the end. That is unfortunate. I AIN'T NO LIAR, THOUGH. 120 Kgs MINIMUM is coming this year ??.

I was not expecting I would be able to hit this today; as I was feeling weaker and moving slower with my warm-ups. However, my single of 145 Kgs right before this ended up feeling pretty good, so I decided to push myself for a PR. Last block, I got up to 157.5 Kgs for 3 reps, so hitting 160 for 5 (I was supposed to do 4, but I was so caught in the moment, and did the reps so quick, that I wasn't 100 % sure I had hit 4. So I did an extra, just in case, haha) and having some reps still left in the tank is pretty good progress! ??

Just like with my bench single the day before, my heavy deadlift single of 185 Kgs felt a bit heavy/slow. However, these felt decent. Different angle today, because I didn't feel like moving my rack, hahaha.

The deadlifts were feelin' pretty good, today! I lost a lot of energy between my last two sets however; due to other complications, and things going wrong, thus the time in between took longer than I wanted to, so I lost some of my energy/mojo. The set would have been easier I think, if it were not for that, as my warmups were feelin' eaaaassy. I was originally going to just do a simple set of 5 reps, but then I remembered that my previous rep PR with this weight was five, so I figured I would take advantage of me feeling pretty good, and snag the easy PR; as I was 110 % confident I could hit it. I think I had at least a couple or more reps in the tank too. I am also experimenting with a slightly wider grip, so we will see how that goes, as well.

I put on the Belt this time, so I could just have a bit more peace of mind, for pushing the weight. Like with the RDLs, I'll try to push this lift by 2.5-5 kgs per week. I actually felt like the Belt hindered me here a bit, because it made it harder to bend over, in that stiff-legged position. I think I'll try wearing it higher than I usually have it for deadlifts, next time; and see if that helps.

I have been doing more of these at least once or twice a week, to work on individual grip strength, and also test my overall progress. This is a really humbling test, and a lot more difficult than it looks! My Right arm seems to be considerably stronger than my left, which is to be expected, with it being my dominant one. However, the gap between the two is a lot starker than I expected! Hopefully I can close that gap a bit, in time.

I decided to give Suicide Grip a go, to see if that would help at all, especially with unracking the weight. It did not seem to help much there, but the set went okay, I suppose. I hit 8 with this weight before not too long ago, so no Rep PR, but I am okay with that.

I apologize for the lack of uploads recently. Training has been going well, overall. I have just been very busy with life, work, etc; which has made it difficult just to get my training in when possible, let alone filming, compiling footage, editing, uploading, etc. Plus, the past few sessions for the past week or so due to programming have been a bit less interesting, in my opinion (weight and reps I've done before, etc), so I didn't feel like they were really worth uploading. I don't want to upload just for the sake of it. Anyway, the heat and humidity has been MURDER lately, as it is that time of year; and so far this week, I have felt more tired, weak, and beat down, which may be due in part to the weather. My Squat and bench session the day before went okay, but I definitely felt weaker, and not on the ball; particularly with squats. As a result my glutes and especially my hamstrings were feeling pretty sore, and beat up; so I was not expecting to be on my A game for this deadlifting session. Despite all of these factors, this went much better than I anticipated. A New Hook grip PR, Deadlift back-off PR, and a PR with the Romanian Deadlifts. Never count yourself out! KEEP GRINDIN'! ??
