Welcome back gentleman, so if you are planning to move to Thailand, you most likely wonder how much to budget and specifically how much the utility costs are in Thailand. If so, sit back and relax because we have you covered.

However, before we begin, I must add that Thailand has many services and providers depending on the location, so It is best to treat these figures as a close estimate rather than a 100% guarantee.

Utility costs In Thailand

Electric Costs In Thailand
According to GPP, current data show the average price of electricity is 0.11 U.S. Dollars per kilowatt-hour, but some similar sources suggest average prices be slightly, however. This discrepancy may be because some providers increase prices per unit after reaching a certain threshold. Nevertheless, how much will this cost you per month?

If you aim to live cheaply by turning off the aircon when not in use, your electric bills will often be around 600 – 900 Baht a month. This is based on a single adult. This is $18.33 - $27.50.

If you live in a larger property and use electricity more, your electric prices in Thailand will be around 1000 – 1800 Thai Baht a month. This is $30.56 - $55.00.

Run a business or perform cryptocurrency mining or something similar. Costs can be over 2000 Thai baht, but on average most single expats can live comfortably using a smaller amount of electricity.

Water costs in Thailand

Similar to electricity, prices can change depending on the amount you use and if you are a resident or a business. Water is super cheap and tends to be around 10 Baht for the first 20 cubic meters or so. Thus for a single adult, water prices can be as low as 50 – 100 Thai baht and, in some cases, lower. This is around $1.53 - $3.05 a month.

If you have a private swimming pool or shower several times a day, naturally, prices can be much higher.

Cell phone costs in Thailand

When looking at the utility prices of Thailand, one external expense you may wish to include is cell phone costs. There are several different providers and packages available. Most range between 250 – 400 baht a month. This often includes non-stop internet surfing and free social media for 30 days. This price translates to $7.63 - $12.21 a month.
