With modern graphical file managers on Linux, Windows and MacOS obscuring path locations in recent years, we have a new generation who find paths completely foreign and abstract. About 1/2 of my students struggle learning the concept of paths, which is crucial for effectively using other commands such as ls, cp, mv, cd and others.
