The reasons Hafs should have never been chosen for today’s official canonical Qur’an are:
1) He was unreliable, weak, untrustworthy, and a liar, and used objectionable material & fabricated chains, so that others avoided him, and refused to use him.
2) He was initially chosen in order to standardize high-school exams on the Qur’an. That's not a good reason to choose a canonical text of a supposedly holy revelation.
3) He was chosen for political purposes (the Ottoman’s preferred him to the others).
4) He was chosen by the Saudi Arabian government only 35 years ago, out of expediency, which makes me older than the canonical authoritative Qur'an. One wonders why the Arabian government chose an Iraqi dialect over their own?
5) Oddly, of the 10 primary ‘readers’, only 3 used the Quraishi dialect, the dialect chosen by Uthman as the only dialect for his 652 Qur'an. The other 7 used dialects from Basra, Kufa and Damascus, the very dialects which were burned by Uthman for being corrupt.
Of the 20 transmitters, we find that only 5 of them used the Quraishi dialect in their writings.
Thus, with the total 30 readers and transmitters, only 8 of them used or wrote in the ‘Quraishi’ dialect, the dialect from Mecca and Medina, which would have spoken by Muhammad, and would have been the dialect in which the Qur'an was initially revealed.
What’s more, the Qur'an which was chosen among the 30 as the official text for the whole world, that belonging to Hafs, also didn’t speak or write in the Quraishi dialect. He was from Kufa, which is in Iraq, the very place which was despised by both Hudhaifa and Uthman, and whose manuscripts were burned in 652 AD because they were seen as a corrupted dialect!
6) Nowhere in this whole process did anyone use TEXTUAL CRITICISM, to ascertain whether Haf’s text was similar, or even close to the original Uthmanic Quraishi text…and the reason…
7) The Qira’at Qur’ans had nothing to do with any original Mushafs, but had everything to do with recitations
8) Besides, there was no Uthmanic Quraishi manuscript with which to compare!!
9) And, there still aren’t any even today!!!
