One of the most controversial claims of the Roman Catholic Church is that it alone has the authority to interpret scripture. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 85), "The task of giving an authentic interpretation of the Word of God, whether in its written form or in the form of Tradition, has been entrusted to the living teaching office of the Church alone." But is this claim biblical? In this blog post, we will examine some of the arguments for and against this position, and see if we can find a clear answer from the scriptures themselves.

Though we do not know exactly there are some possible reasons why people in the Old Testament lived so long: (1) God made Adam and Eve physically perfect and their genetic information would have been more pure, (2) it is possible that there was a canopy of water surrounding the earth, and (3) Genesis 6:3 may be a prophecy regarding the coming of the flood.
