Sights & Sounds of Downtown Keene | Anti-War Veterans are Pro-Chalk Pt 15
Saturday, June 7th 2014 - Anti-War Veterans hold signs at Keene Central Square every Saturday to remind the people how many young people continue to return home in body bags. They have a message for the anti-chalk people, too! "Maybe they should care as much about the bodies as much as the chalk." ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTdZvRp-xjk

Saturday, October 11, 2014 - Jeff and I hike Mt Sunapee for the first time. Mt Sunapee is like a mid-way point between Keene and Manchester, New Hampshire. It was a nice, moderate trail with some fun obstacles. Definitely would go again, although I might like to explore some others before leaf-peeping season is over!

Saturday, July 5th, 2014 - 37 Years ago, a drag queen was thrown out of a bar for the way she was dressed. She left and returned with a bunch of her drag queen friends. Every year since, this event has been commemorated with the "Invasion of the Pines". A boat load of drag queens travel from Cherry Grove to the Pines, Fire Island, and sashay out strutting their stuff. Dancing, drunkenness, and merriment ensue. For me, this was the closest to a taste of heaven I could have ever imagined.

Monday, June 16th 2014 - 10am - Today there was a trial in Keene at the new courthouse. "The State of New Hampshire" charged political activist Graham Colson with "Contempt of Court" for speaking to a Meter Maid while doing his activism.
The activism, called "Robin Hooding", involves walking around feeding the expired parking meters. He says it saves people from tickets.
But Meter Maid Alan Givetz had a big problem with the Robin Hooders. So much of a problem that he quit over the situation. He called the police on Graham for speaking to him, and the court defended the unconstitutional ban on free speech.
Graham was represented by friend and fellow Robin Hood activist Garret Ean. Ean blogs at http://FreeKeene.com and also runs his own blog at http://FreeConcord.org
Graham was sentenced to 60 days in jail, plus 5 months "suspended" for 2 years. That means he has to go to jail for about 2 months, but the other 5 months he doesn't have to spend in jail (so long as he doesn't get arrested for the next 2 years). All of this for speaking to a member of the badged class?
Article 10 of the New Hampshire Constitution reads, "[Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind."
These activists are engaging in peaceful resistance to the state. And they need your support. Reinforce these gutsy activists by moving to the Shire! Learn more at http://ShireSociety.com

January 23, 2014 - About 30 people gathered today at the intersection of Broad & Girard streets in Philadelphia, PA to demand justice for Darrin Manning. Darrin is a 16-year-old straight-A student at a charter school. On his way to practice for his championship basketball team, Darrin was stopped by employees of the Philadelphia Police Department for an invasive procedure euphemistically called "Stop & Frisk." This is a process by which a person who is not suspected of committing a crime is detained by a police employee to have his body and possessions searched without a warrant.
Though his teammates ran from the police and escaped detention and arrest, Darrin calmly and politely allowed himself to be searched, knowing that he had done nothing wrong. A female officer, who has not yet been named, pulled on Darrin's testicles so hard that she ruptured them, jeopardizing the 16-year-old's ability to have children in the future and preventing him from walking correctly.
Members of Darrin's community are demanding justice and an end to "Stop & Frisk."
