RRSPs and Climate? How is this charitable activity?
Tides Canada, widely considered to be the main funder/driver of the Tar Sands Campaign against the Alberta oil sands, is pushing pension fund trustees to invest in renewables. TIDES is running a "SHIFT" campaign - but we're asking "How is this Charitable Activity?" ...and you should ask the same question. All renewables are made from oil, natural gas and coal. No matter how hard renewables activists try to claim they are enacting "ESG" - environment, social and governance standards that are superior to those of conventional fuel providers, in fact all renewables are made from oil, natural gas and coal. So investors are being duped on 'clean tech'. Though Mark Carney, former Bank of England/Bank of Canada governor made much of fears of climate change in his speech to Lloyd's of London in Sept 2015, he said an army of actuaries was not needed to evaluate the risk. In fact, actuaries don't see the climate risks he claims. And the Task Force on Climate Risk Disclosure was chaired by a person who had funded a climate hysteria report based on a simulation (RCP 8.5) that is framed as 'climate porn' by Roger Pielke, Jr. Maybe it is time that we demand investment in our own Canadian industries - time that we #JumpStartCanada and abandon these false prophets with fake moral ESG standards and false evaluation of what makes the world work. Ask the Canada Revenue Agency about TIDES' push to change investments. Ask them "How is this charitable activity?" ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gFYsHFKbMc
James Hansen, a US climate scientist, is signatory to an email being distributed in Canada pushing carbon taxes. Hansen was here at the beginning of the roots of the global warming craze - at a conference hosted by Stephen Lewis in 1988. http://blog.friendsofscience.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/cialertvol1-3fall1988-climate-alert-climate-institute.pdf So why, 31 years later, is an American climate scientist trying to make Canadians think they will make money being taxed and bribed with their OWN money? Most people think science is a serious business, but look at all the street theater involved in getting global warming off the ground! Interviews - Timothy Wirth on Frontline, PBS https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/hotpolitics/interviews/wirth.html This clip is loosely based on Robert Lyman's post on Carbon Tax Quandary. Read it and see what #Carbon Kleptomania really means. https://blog.friendsofscience.org/2018/10/24/jane-q-canadians-carbon-tax-quandary/

Dr. Ian Clark used to teach CO2 climate dogma, until he met Jan Veizer, Canada's foremost geoscientist today, who explained to him that water vapor is the most influential greenhouse gas, not CO2. After doing more research on the topic, Dr. Clark changed his mind about the 'over trumpeted CO2' - he became a climate realist and hasn't looked back. Dr. Clark surprised us with a nice unsolicited compliment! We hope you will support our work. In advance of #COP27, Naomi Klein hosted a webinar on "Egypt's Carceral Climate Summit" along with Bill McKibben of 350.org and some other colleagues. In the webinar, Klein and McKibben tried to tie together political freedom, human rights, and climate change. They advocated for climate youth who would be attending COP27 in Egypt, to do public protests on behalf of people jailed during or after the Arab Spring, which Klein framed as a pro-democracy event. Klein wrote a long piece for The Intercept, which she referred to in her presentation, claiming that having a climate conference in Egypt is a 'moral failing.' In this detailed review, Michelle Stirling, Communications Manager for Friends of Science Society, explains that according to research by NECSI - New England Complex Systems Institute - the "Arab Spring" was actually driven by a huge spike in world food prices. Thus the true 'moral failing' is US climate policies on food-to-fuel ethanol which drove millions of people into poverty and hunger, sparking civil unrest around the world. The issue was and is exacerbated in the Middle East North Africa region (MENA) where youth unemployment is sky high and many people work in the 'informal' economy - with no job security or pensions. However, Egypt has many regional and domestic challenges to address - so their laws and policies are different than those in Western nations. In particular, Michelle warns youth climate activists to be careful to follow the law in Egypt as the consequences of protesting without a permit can be severe. The new 'coal' for climate activists is natural gas, and Egypt happens to be a key supplier of natural gas to the world - a world which desperately needs this supply. Michelle points out that climate activists and climate-obsessed nations are really just modern day colonialists, using climate policies and climate finance as the levers of domination.

Ecojustice has taken the Ontario government to court on behalf of a group of youth #GENClimateAction kids. In this, Part 3, we assess the climate claims made in court documents, showing that they are based on outdated science, are misleading or disputed. We show that Ontario's existing Green Energy Act violates Section 15 of the Charter by imposing crippling costs on pensioners. We show that GHG reduction targets are impossible to meet due to mass immigration policies. And we show that while there is warming occurring this does not explain the cause. Ontario is not driving climate change and children should not be exploited for commercial purposes, such as the school wide activist program where Ecojustice's executive director was a board member. This would appear to be an unstated Conflict of Interest. The power point will be posted on our blog for your review. In this Kitchen Table Talk #2 we consider that government-managed post-war housing, which had been a boon to troops coming home from World War II, became the subject of vilification by the 1960s with Pete Seeger's famous rendition of "Little Boxes on the Hillside." The song objects to the conformity of suburbia and the rather poorly made homes that were put together in a rush. Today, the federal government is proposing a similar sweeping plan to build 5.8 million houses by 2030. As outlined in "Blueprint," a report co-authored by a number of people including UN Climate Czar, Mark Carney, they propose that the new housing should be "climate resilient" and built to the much higher "NetZero" standards. However, Robert Lyman's 2019 report "Forget the Dream House" shows that this kind of construction standard is far more expensive than conventional methods. https://blog.friendsofscience.org/2019/09/08/forget-the-dream-house-how-net-zero-building-codes-may-place-house-ownership-beyond-reach/ What kind of quality will there be in these 5.8 million homes, rushed to market? How can these be more affordable than existing housing stock? Are we just creating cities that are 'all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same' - enforcing conformity on citizens, when after Pete Seeger's time, conventional home builders flourished with many innovative home designs in beautifully designed neighbourhoods with thoughtful layouts. Hans Rosling, the author of "Factfulness" said that "Fear plus urgency leads to stupid, drastic decisions with unpredictable side effects." Maybe we should think twice. Canada plans to introduce "Just Transition" legislation in 2023, as part of the climate commitment to the Paris Agreement. But 'transition' to what?? Michelle Stirling, Communications Manager for Friends of Science walks through the inconvenient facts for climate activists, showing that magical thinking on energy will not change reality. The world runs on oil, natural gas, and coal. Despite billions of dollars in subsidies to renewables, wind and solar barely figure in Canada's energy mix. Creating more wind and solar means using...more oil, gas and coal. Likewise, NetZero targets cannot be met as there is an insufficient supply chain of critical minerals. Simon Michaux's study for Geological Survey if Finland shows it would take hundreds...thousands of years to mine the necessary minerals ( requiring LOTS of fossil fuels, too!) Despite claims of catastrophe if we delay 'climate action,' the Parliamentary Budget Officer's recent study shows there would be nominal economic impact if we did NOTHING to meet Paris climate targets. However, the cost of compliance and spending on ideological green schemes would be a huge burden in our economy and a diversion of good money from practical adaptation needs or public services. The climate emergency is over. We DO have time. Please help us - share this message. Please donate or join us: www.friendsofscience.org

Greta Thunberg is about to release "The Climate Book", which features a cover of cold blue stripes leading up to a series of hot red stripes - suggesting dangerous global warming. But if you look at present warming in the context of history, you will see that climate is cyclical, going from warm to cold periods and back again, in uneven patterns over time. The Little Ice Age that preceded our present warm period was deadly for many people - featuring very erratic weather, long-term rain cycles over periods of months and years, resulting in crops being washed out completely, people being unable to dry hay for livestock, leading to famines and social chaos. By contrast, the Medieval Warm Period (or Medieval Optimum) prior to the LIA was a time of abundant crops and stable weather conditions, meaning there was the time and energy to build castles and churches. We hope to bring some calm and common sense to the climate debate by helping people understand that climate is cyclical. Remember, if you feel afraid of climate change, you can change your mind, and find out what's really going on! Please like, subscribe and share. Many people think human caused global warming will result in sea level rise that will wash Florida away. Dr. John Harper, FGSA,FGAC, PGeol., former director of the Geological Survey of Canada, explains that the land 'platform' of Florida is different than most of the USA (even though they are physically connected to each other). Florida's platform is made of limestone, a chalk-like substance, that readily disintegrates when exposed to fresh water. This explains the reason why so many sink holes have appeared in Florida. Sea levels dropped dramatically and exposed this land to air and fresh water. In the Bahamas, where the same kind of land platform exists there are deep sea caves where human remains and artifacts are being found. Human-caused climate change is not the cause of Florida's gradual natural breakdown due to the inherent weakness of the platform and erosion by the elements.
