I bought this endoscope from Banggood not for pushing into my ears as they would suggest but to be able to see into inaccessible areas such as motors and engine parts. On occasions I need to look behinds parts in my Defender that I simply cannot see or get access to.
I’ve not been able to try it on an Android device but Banggood would have you believe it will work fine. In my case I have installed it on a laptop running Windows 7. Being on a laptop I’m not tied to a desk and as I cannot get the Defender into the living room this is a good choice for me!
Installation was simple on the laptop, I just plugged it into the USB port and Windows configured it as a camera. A link to a little software program is included in the instructions. If you need to record or take snaps this program is able to capture it. In my case I have no need to make a recording.
It comes with multiple connectors on the cable end (USB, USB C and Micro USB) and part way up the cable is a rotary control to adjust the 6 led’s that are in the end of the tube which surround the camera. These LED’s illuminate what you are looking at. Banggood states it a 0.3mp although the instructions say otherwise (720p HD) camera.
The tube that holds the camera and leds' is aluminium and is approx. 15cm long and the cable 150cm, again approx. The end of the tube where the cable enters is knurled so as you are still able to get a good grip even if you hands are greasy from engine oil.
The working end gets warm due to the led’s but this has no negative effect to the video produced. Please ensure you remove the protective cap from the end of the tube before you start though!
Also included is a nice zip up case to hold the camera, cables and tools they supply. Plastic scraper tools are supplied but I won’t be using them as previously stated I’m not sticking this device in my ears or any other part of me!
The cost to me in January 2020 was £5.10 delivered. A bargain for what you get really.
