John E. Broome and the Handels formed in Adelaide in 1964.

Biography
The majority of the members hailed from the northern suburbs of Adelaide and the band performed at "The Octagon" and the "Salisbury Youth Centre" weekly in Elizabeth during the mid sixties.

The bands drummer, Laurie Pryor, wrote the song "Young Girl" on a ship on the way to England which was later recorded by The Twilights when he was with the them in 1967.

The tracks Do's And Dont's / Didn't Know Her Name were released May 1965. They were recorded at "Visound Recording Studio's" situated at 202 Hindley Street, Adelaide. Both of these songs were written by Alan Tarney the groups bass player. The song reached number 41 in 5DN's Big 60 for four weeks.
