For the first time ever in my travels, I finally took a break from the road and called a place home, on my own far far away from HOME. Two and a half months after my arrival in NZ and traveling a fraction of the country, I found myself back across the Cook Strait and exploring some of the Marlborough Sounds on two wheels. Couchsurfing with a family off the grid in the sounds and enjoying the simple things in life. Returning to Picton though, allowed me to find a hotel job as a bartender and a place to call home in this beautiful part of New Zealand.

For three months I enjoyed a simple Summer life learning how to bartend for the first time, understanding some mixology, about spirits, and the atmosphere of a hospitality job. I also managed to learn how to treat guests in a fine dining environment and finally learn how to properly make coffee.

Other than my work routine, i enjoyed a ride out to the foreshore, having a picnic on the water or having a coffee at Le Cafe on the water, watching the ferries come and go with the beautiful backdrop of the sounds. I only spend a few months here, but the sounds will forever remain in my heart as home. :)
