IN NEED OF A MARKET
Merthyr Town hosted East Anglian side Needham Market in the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, in their latest match.
With the prospect of taking on a Football League side now becoming a realistic possibility, a win today would achieve expectations and set the Martyrs up for a possible Cup run.
Needham Market would not be an easy side, who would come out on top in South Wales?

The former 'Voice Of An Angel' and Gavin Henson's 'squeeze' thinks it's a great idea to waste £1.5m on an exclusive off-grid 'Retreat' which will be a radical 'non-hierarchical participatory democracy.'
Why do I get the feeling that this will not be a good idea?

MEETING BARRY
It was back to Penydarren Park for the final game of pre season with Barry Town United providing the final opposition before the first match in the Southern Premier League.
Always a tricky and tough opponent, and with Merthyr v Barry games always an exciting affair, could the team sign off from pre season undefeated?

The small Welsh town of Merthyr Tydfil may seem to be an unassuming place for footballing greatness, but the town which brought us legendary Boxers such as Howard Winstone and Jonny Owen as well as the Labour Party and a leader called Keir... Hardie, not Starmer! caused a major sensation in 1987 when they beat Italian side Atalanta at Penydarren Park on September 16th 1987 in the Cup Winner's Cup.
The Southern Premier League side, who would go on to play in the Conference (the top division of Non-League football) a few years later surpassed all expectations and the team became overnight legends and were featured in the media as a result. At a time when English sides were banned from Europe, due to the Heysel Stadium tragedy, they not only had the support of the town but also the whole of Wales and much of the rest of the United Kingdom as well!
Sadly, from the mid 1990s to 2010, the club dwindled and fell back into the Southern League and in 2010 were wound up after not being able to pay club debts.
Reforming as Merthyr Town in 2010, the club rejoined the Southern Premier League in 2015 and, despite a financial scare during the 2017-18 season, have coped well upon their return to this level. However, with rising costs and having finances clipped by the Coronavirus, there is now talk of Merthyr Town following the example of Colwyn Bay and moving to the Welsh League system in time for the 2021-22 season where they would have shorter trips than they currently do to the likes of Metropolitan Police, Walton Casuals, Truro City, Wimborne Town etc. With bigger crowds expected against teams such as Barry Town United, Penybont, Cardiff Met University FC, The New Saints etc. it could make more sense for Merthyr Town to move across.

Wales Rugby Union International Liam Williams felt the wrath of the Twitter trolls on Saturday night, following Wales' last minute defeat to France in Paris, whilst Councillors in Cardiff have also shared their experiences of online and real life abuse.
Has trolling gone too far or should it just be accepted as part of life? Should those behind the troll accounts face prison for Malicious Communications and Death Threats? Should more be done to punish these people - Digital Device Bans being one proposed solution?
Or, should we just shut down Twitter and Facebook until the trolls are removed and replaced by sensible adults who can chat and debate civilly?

The Aberystwyth University student, 24, was arrested at Gatwick Airport in 2018 and was found to be in possession of extremist material including Nazi Essays by James Mason and Mein Kampf.
On Friday 11th June 2021, he was sentenced to seven years imprisonment on 15 charges including 12 terrorism-related ones. He also carved a Swastika into the buttock of a former partner.
Despite being arrested and sentenced in England, the crimes were committed whilst he was still at University in Wales... besides, this was too good a story to ignore for the series!
Andrew still denies being responsible for these crimes and claims to have been fitted up.
I have to say, the sentence for this is fair considering what he has done IMO and he is lucky that he is not looking at 10 to 15 years inside.
