I repair a liquid damaged 17" Macbook Pro Early 2011 which also has the all too common GPU failure as well. First I fix the liquid damage and attempt to resolve the GPU fault by replacing a capacitor, but that didn't work so I then install a "CMIzapper Tiresias" (see link below) which is a SPI ROM mod which permanently turns off the GPU to disable it, so even a machine with a dead GPU can be restored to a working condition. I also have to replace the MacBook Pro keyboard.
