Relativism! The Musical! (Ft. Will Nye the Catholic Guy)
Join Will Nye the Catholic Guy as he embarks on a whimsical, musical journey to convince a poor soul named Liam that relativism is not a great path to go down. But just as soon as Liam falls in love with absolute truth, he learns of the hardships and obligations that come with living such a life.
This video, and all of the music in it, were inspired by a Philosophy of God course a couple of us took, where the professor would often parody small excerpts of various popular songs to fit the course's theme of absolutism. One day in class, he mentioned that "someone should write a song about that," so we did.

"In having relations with someone of the opposite sex, you are 1) admitting you desire them, 2) admitting they can fulfill you in a way you cannot fulfill yourself, 3) renouncing the possibility of having sex with anyone else and giving yourself to them and your children, and 4) imitating God’s creativity by participating in the creation of new life. Thus, a good marriage engages all four levels that Spitzer describes."

"Reality is not something we reach for or grasp for. It is something we are born into. From our earliest pre-intellective moments, our sense organs are being shaped, molded, into how they will later intelligize, as Zubiri will later say truthify, the world. And along the way to mature intellection, we are constantly, both subconsciously and consciously formalizing content, simply because reality isn’t out there; it’s all around us."
Xavier Zubiri is a little-known Spanish philosopher who sought to develop a realist Metaphysics that accounted for a dynamic universe. His expertise and critiques of prior Western philosophical paradigms ultimately led him to craft a systematic philosophy that perhaps synthesized all the best elements of each school of thought, whilst correcting for their respective errors. In this series, Will Deatherage explores his seminal work, Sentient Intelligence.

Personally, I blame Liam for misspelling the subject of this video. Whatever. He's not an English major (or a Latin one either). Special Thanks to Dr. David Dawson from the Angelicum for reviewing our script.
Corrections:
-the sin of apostasy did not necessarily damn someone to Hell, rather it was thought that the Church did not have the authority to forgive it; Cyprian and company believed that Christ could forgive them after death
-Vatican II did not occur in the 1950s, it was the 60s
-the text "While other Christians share some sacraments they are still NOT saved" should be amended to say "necessarily saved" given the validity of some of their sacraments
-goodness does not come from the Church, it comes from Christ
This episode addresses one of the most controversial doctrines of the Catholic Church. We explain how "No Salvation Outside the Church" should be understood as we explore the vast history of this subject.
