Today I review a new budget mic from Neewer. The NW-500. This thing has a constant high frequency buzz in the background that makes it horrible for any professional applications.

Today I review another budget mic from Behringer which looks quite a lot like the Rode NT1a. This costs $120, has a great set of accessories, and offers a very modern sound meaning a weighty low end and a dominant top end which gives it a slight v-shape. The top end does come across a bit harsh, but for the price it’s not horrible.

Today I review the best microphone ever made, or at the very least one of them, the Neumann U67 Reissue. This is a multi pattern tube condenser microphone that sounds amazing. It offers a fairly controlled low end, neutral-ish mid section and a smooth top end that avoids sibilance and harshness. One main down side is the price and the Max SPL only hitting 124dB.

Today I review the CAD Equitek E100s, a super-cardioid condenser studio microphone. This mic has a crazy low self noise at 3.7dBA, and a max SPL of 150dB. It offers a warm, smooth, and detailed tone that I think works well for voice, acoustic instruments, and clean electric guitar.

Today I review the Audio Technica AT4033a which is a somewhat unexciting microphone, but a nice sounding microphone. It's a more midforward sounding mic compared to other AT mics I've used and has a less dominant top end but it does suffer from sibilance and have a self noise of 17dBa.

Today we review the Razer Seiren Elite, the new Dynamic USB streaming microphone from Razer. This thing has a built in analog/digital limiter, records in 16-bit 48kHz, and offers 0 latency monitoring. Unfortunately, it has a high noise floor, the limiter is too harsh and makes it sound overly compressed, and it doesn’t have any shock absorption. All around, in theory this microphone is great, but in execution, it doesn’t cut.
Buy the Razer Seiren Elite (but are you sure?)
