The American Freedom Train
On April 1, 1975, the first of three giant steam locomotives pulled into Delaware, the first State of the Union, with 25 glistening red, white, and blue cars filled with historic treasures covering a span of 200 years of growth and development in America.
This first stop in Wilmington was the beginning of the largest single Bicentennial celebration undertaking. Significantly, it involved a steam locomotive and steel rails. The Iron Horse played an immeasurable role in unifying the United States of America, and building this nation into a great industrial and world power.
Before the end of its tour, 21 months later on December 31, 1976, the AMERICAN FREEDOM TRAIN had traveled 24,000 route miles throughout the 48 contiguous states, and visited over 100 cities. In all, more than 8 million people boarded the Train and experienced the magnificent audio-visual display of Americana as head in this album, while another 40 to 50 million people viewed the Train as it passed them trackside.
In this album you will hear the nostalgic sounds of the giant steam locomotives that pulled this national treasure throughout the land, the Official AMERICAN FREEDOM TRAIN theme song, and, the historically significant audio soundtracks used in the exhibit cars!
Here comes the AMERICAN FREEDOM TRAIN - All Aboard, America!
