From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/chemistry.html this video explores why the term "shocking" is often poorly applied to swimming pools and can lead to an incorrect understanding of the fundamental chemical process for pool maintenance. Shocking often refers to adding chlorine to your pool, or perhaps adding a non chlorine based oxidizer "shock" product, but in reality there is better terminology which could be employed to be more clear about what you are doing (or what you need to do) to the pool.
Breakpoint chlorination - This is where you increase the free chlorine level to be 10 times the combined chlorine level and then hold it at this elevated free chlorine level for an extended period of time. This is a process which all pools need to do when the combined chlorine levels grow, and often people refer to this process as shocking, or super chlorinating.
Non-oxidizer shock - Oxidizer like potassium monopersulfate can be used as a pool shock. This helps to break down and oxidize organic contaminants in the pool quickly, and leaving the water safe for swimming within just a short period of time.
Raising chlorine levels - If you were to add chlorine to your pool and then refer to this process as shocking the pool, you would not be totally incorrect, however this terminology would leave the door open to misinterpretation by anyone you are speaking to about your pool. Instead of saying you shocked the pool, you would simply say that you added some chlorine or raised your free chlorine level.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/superpump-superflo.html - See how the Pentair SuperFlo VS (342001) and the Hayward Super Pump VS (SP2603VSP) compare to eachother when run on the same test lab plumbing system. Each pump was powered by 240 volts, set up using a 2" PVC plumbing system with one suction and return and a Hayward 150 square foot cartridge filter. Flow rate and power consumption are compared and monitored through a digital flow meter and an external wattage meter.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/heater-break.html - If you have a problem with your pool heater in that it will not fire or turn on, this video will discuss the most common reasons why this happens and what you can do to resolve this problem.
Most commonly the pressure switch inside the heater (safety switch) is not able to close due to low pressure or low flow in the pool system. This could be from a variable speed pump that is running on too low of a speed setting, but most commonly this problem is from a restriction in your filter. If you have a sand filter be sure to backwash it thoroughly to resolve this flow problem. If you have a cartridge filter be sure that your cartridges are cleaned with a degreasing agent (not just rinsing them off). If these tips do not resolve your heater firing problem then consider having a heater cleaning service performed by a qualified gasfitter.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/install-pump.html this video looks at Swimming Pool Steve's FAVORITE swimming pool pump. This is the Hayward Tristar VS 900 1.85hp pump - available from brick and mortar pool professionals only - also available in a similar open line model the SP3202VSP.
At 1.85 hp with a high head performance chart, this pump is extremely versatile and capable for a host of different pool applications. From small and basic pools to very large and feature rich pools there is a good change that the Hayward Tristar VS 900 will be one of the best options for you to consider.
In this video you will also see the pump in action where we will measure some flor rates and power consumption at different speeds, as well as monitoring the amount of noise this pump makes.
I hope you enjoy this "deep dive" into my favorite pool pump - the Tristar VS 900 from Hayward.

From https://www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/pages/pool-blog.html this video talks about four specific things that can close your pool immediately. They are:
1) Code BROWN
2) Lighting nearby
3) Feeling shocks in the pool
4) Turbid water
Safety is the most important thing when it comes to swimming pools and any of these issues represents a problem so series that the pool need to be evacuated immediately and closed to swimmers until the problem can be professionally addressed.
