With the escalation of high-frequency trading – where trades are executed in nano-seconds – the threat of glitches to the automated software that executes these trades has become more common. This week, the Securities and Exchange Commission unanimously approved new rules intended to protect big exchanges and investors from technological glitches that can throw markets into total disarray. Erin weighs in.

Marshall tells us what impact an increase in labor participation rates could have on the US economy and gives us his take on the political and institutional constraints in Europe.
