10/28/2013 The Dividing Line - Steven Anderson, Strange Fire, David Allen, and More
Covered a lot today, with a brief recounting of my interview with KJV Only advocate Steven Anderson, and then a longer series of comments based upon my listening to three of the presentations from the Strange Fire Conference on my ride this morning. Then we took calls, including one from Rory on the presentation of David Allen from Southwestern against the Reformed understanding of the atonement, specifically in regards to his attempt to make 1 Corinthians 15 a verbatim presentation by Paul to the Corinthians rather than (as the vast majority of scholars see it) a summary of the apostolic kerygma. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9WP8bW74u4
Spent some time talking about how Australia has fallen into the pit of totalitarianism, then did an unplanned discussion of the Legacy Standard Bible’s reading at Jude 5 and the upcoming ECM volumes (and CBGM data) for Mark that will be available in about three weeks. Moved from there to a discussion of the “debate” of some kind between Michael Brown and William Albrecht, which then took us to a brief interaction with Trent Horn’s claims. Took a trip down memory lane to tell an “Incarnational Story,” in reality, to look at a key design element of the Prologue of John that has deep and important theological significance. Took a deep breath and didn’t try to rush today, just told stories and wove them into the narrative before discussing the Pope’s spin brigade. Then we talked a bit about the progress on the studio, and the need to debate Pope Francis’ claims in Roman Catholicism as well. An hour and 15 minutes today.

Walked through the argument presented by Eerdmans on Twitter in defense of its promotion of the LGBTQ agenda, and then looked at Will Hess and his comments about unitarianism, looking at John 1:1 and other important issues.

Began a hopefully respectful, helpful review of the arguments and claims of Muslim speaker Wael Ibrahim in a recent debate on the Trinity in Hong Kong. Wael seems like a really nice man, has a very winning personality and approach, so reviewing his position should be very helpful to all who wish a deeper knowledge of the Trinity and who desire to be better prepared to present this divine truth to others.

I didn't want an entire week to go by without a program, so we snuck one in just under the wire! Gave a bit of a report on where I am as far as surgeries and the like go (another in just over a week), and then I played a short clip from a dialogue Leighton Flowers did recently wherein he spoke of the Spirit's role, or non-role, in salvation, that is very helpful in focusing upon the real differences between the Reformation and Provisionism, which, I allege in this program, is sub-Roman when it comes to its view of grace.

tarted off responding to this article by William Lane Craig, once again dealing with the relationship between God’s revelation in Scripture and our knowledge, including our knowledge of who Christ was (and is). Craig is the primary source for Andy Stanley’s position, by the way, as you will see. Then we transitioned into a full-on refutation of this article by Dr. Douglas Beaumont, formerly of Southern Evangelical Seminary and one of the many staff and students who have converted to Romanism. Had to get the silly stuff out of the way first, so we looked at Andrew Sluder’s “KJB Numerology” where he uses verse numbers and their position in the Bible to prove its inspiration. Then we got serious and read through a Soteriology 101 article and dealt with its man-centeredness. Finished off with an RNS opinion piece that alleged that James Cone’s heresy really isn’t heresy, it is all about white power. Also had some further information about the Rome/Israel cruise and associated excursions. Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/

That wasn’t the only topic we covered today, as we looked at a number of items, but in general we looked at the reaction that erupted to a simple tweet from Dr. Josh Buice, a reaction that came from staff or students at the three largest Southern Baptist seminaries. We also looked at what wokeness does to one’s theology from a few sources as well. Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/
