After taking care of Team Plasma in Castelia City, go to the gym where you’ll see slimy walls you can slip through and step on switches to form a path. After forming the path, you’ll battle the gym leader. Burgh uses Bug type Pokémon. Whirlipede will use Pursuit if opponents try to switch out and Poison Tail for added chances of critical hits. Dwebble will use Smack Down to knock down those in the air and Faint Attack for never miss strikes. Leavanny will use Razor Leaf for critical hits along with Protect to avoid attacks for one turn. After the battle, you’ll receive the Insect Badge and a TM76 (Struggle Bug). Struggle Bug strikes all nearby opponents and lowers their Special Attack stat.

Rapidash will use Bounce to avoid attacks for the first turn and strike the next turn, which can sometimes paralyze targets. Furthermore, SolarBeam won’t need any first turn charging with Sunny Day in effect. Steelix will slow opponents down with Rock Tomb and make them flinch using Fire Fang. Drifblim will use Will-O-Wisp to burn targets then use Ominous Wind to sometimes raise its stats. It has a combo with Double Team and Baton Pass plus its Aftermath ability will hurt those who finish it off with direct contact. Attacking Lopunny with special attacks can make it fight back using Mirror Coat. Infernape will strike first using Mach Punch and Thunderpunch to paralyze targets. Think of a whole variety of moves you can use for this battle.

Chuck is one of the Johto Leaders in the Pokémon World Tournament that can be battled in either the Johto Leaders or World Leaders Tournaments. Chuck is skilled in using Fighting type Pokémon. Poliwrath will use Hypnosis to put opponents to sleep and Belly Drum to max out its Attack stat while sacrificing its own HP. Machamp holds a Choice Band that powers up physical attacks but permits to use only one move. Conkeldurr will use Drain Punch to steal HP from opponents and Mach Punch to strike first. Hitmontop will use Mach Punch and Bullet Punch to strike first. Hitmonchan will use Double Team to become harder to hit along with 3 punching moves that become stronger with the Iron Fist ability. Hitmonlee will use Fake Out to strike first and Bulldoze to slow opponents down. A move like Aerial Ace would be useful to attack the opposing team.

Once you reach Virbank City, enter the gym and you’ll hear a band playing. The band is so loud that Roxie won’t even notice you unless you defeat both her drummer and guitarist. Once both band members are quieted down, you’ll be able to battle Roxie. Roxie uses Poison type Pokémon. In Challenge Mode, Grimer is extra to her team while Whilipede holds a Sitrus Berry. Koffing will use Smog to poison targets and Assurance if the target has already received damage that turn. Grimer will use Mud-Slap to make opponents less accurate and use Disable on the move they recently used. Whirlipede will use Protect to avoid attacks and Rollout to hit consecutively for 5 turns as every successive hit gets stronger. After the battle, you’ll receive the Toxic Badge and a TM09 (Venoshock). If the target is poisoned, Venoshock will do double the damage.

At the start, there are wall hatches, torso arms, and flying shells. Climb a ladder and defeat some construction workers. Climb another ladder and ovals will emerge from the holes, splitting up into debris. Be sure to watch for floor traps as well. Descend and smiley drones will appear. You’ll also pick up the Jewel Jump item if you missed one on the Cut Man stage. Descend again and use the Jewel Jump to navigate a section with spikes all over. Enter the cap door and pick up some energy pellets to recharge your weapons. Descend and battle against a Mega Man clone. The clone will have the same weapon you’re equipped with. It’s easier to damage it with the Rolling Cutter. Defeat this close to advance to the next stage.

Fuchsia City’s gym has a maze if invisible walls surrounding the gym leader. After battling some trainers and navigating the maze, you’ll battle the gym leader. Koga uses Poison type Pokémon. In this version, he carries 3 Venonat and a Venomoth. All 4 opponents will use Psychic to lower the Special stats of a target. Venomoth will combo with Toxic and Double Team to make the battle more difficult. Try using a Psychic type move, like Psybeam for example to easily knock out the opposing Pokémon. After winning, you’ll receive the Soul Badge and a TM06 (Toxic). When Toxic is used, it badly poisons the target, making the poison damage increase slowly every turn.
