Mythological Character Studies #11: Satan (666 Subscriber Special)
In today's video, we explore Satan, the prince of darkness from Christianity and compare his professed characterization with that of his later depictions in Islam, as well as his attested mentions in the old testament.
Pray for me, I can hear the evangelicals building that cross from my window...

Today, we explore the religion of Tengrism in the way which the Mongolians during the time of Genghis Khan would have practiced it, albeit, very poorly as their really weren't many written sources about Tengri other than the supposed prophecy he sent down to Genghis attesting that he shall conquer the entire known world, and impregnate half of it.

Today, we revisit Celtic mythology to briefly underline the Tuatha Dé Danann and their role in ancient Irish society.
(Please note: Yes, I mispronounce some things here and there. The only thing consistent about the Celtic language is how inconsistent the "proper" pronunciation is for their words. Also, the Anglicization is terrible...)

In today's video, we're going to take a look at the metaphorical "other side of the tracks" in the classical world: Roman Mythology and the folklore surrounding the city's foundation.
Note that I will NOT be covering the Aeneid in this video (as you can see, it is long enough already). However, I am not opposed to returning to that story at a later date. Until then, you can find OSP's video on the Aeneid here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRruBVFXjnY
I implore you all to go and watch this video on Rhea Silvia:

Also note; I did miss quite a bit of smaller bits of information here and there, such as the reason why both Remus and Romulus were so defendant in their choice of hill. (Which all amounted to nothing as that very hill was conquered by the Empire several times over.) Again, apologies, but had I made this video as needlessly detailed as possible, it could take several months before I would have completed it.

Low-brow?
Of course it is, this is Messiahs and Mythology.
One of the greatest achievements in human history has been our solution to the issue of fecal matter and the disposal thereof, and so, it only makes sense that our ancestors (obsessed with animism as they are) should seek to deify some of these more unmentionable aspects of human existence.

Land of Tea, Porcelain, Silk and the senseless slaughter of turtles, China is a nation which has seemingly divorced itself from the myths of their ancestors. Never-the-less, their cultural genesis tale has yet to be abandoned completely (especially by those in the West) hence why I am able to bring you today's video.

Today is the long-awaited arrival of my video delving into Zoroastrianism and how it influenced other Mediterranean-based faiths, most infamously the second temple-era Jews and the early Christians which followed them.
Apparently, I need to put this in as a disclaimer every time I mention one of the big five religions, but this video is intended to educate, not indoctrinate. Your own personal religious views have not, and will never be a concern of mine, yet keep in mind that the humor I interject into my videos is always meant to be taken in good fun and not read into as legitimate criticisms of the religion in question, and especially not the individual practitioners.
Now, with all that out of the way, a few notes:
Zoroastrianism, just like Christianity, has seen an awful lot of off-shoots and reinterpretations over the centuries and so, in an effort to save everyone’s time and sanity, I am not about to go through each and every one of them, but instead produce a video on the most concise and consistent aspects of the mythology with a few garnishments of the various different branches when they produce an interesting idea.
I know this isn’t a huge deal, but before someone tries to correct me, I am aware that in some neo-pagan circles Anahit is considered to be the Goddess of water. Sue me for being a traditionalist.
Big complaint I know is going to eventually crop-up is the debate over whether or not Judaism was influenced by Zoroastrianism or whether they developed all of these ideas independently (conveniently AFTER they were liberated by the Persians) and then influenced the doctrines of Zoroastrianism afterward. All I have to say about this is Occam’s Razor usually doesn’t steer us wrong.
For the record, I don’t think Zoroastrianism is actually 4000 years old, nor do I believe that it is merely 2600 years old. In all likeliness, I’d say it was likely founded around 1100-1000 B.C. due to the whole “camel” situation which I’m saving a more extensive dive into for a later video.
And yes, I am a dumbass and routinely confused “Cyrus” with “Cyprus” the Greek island which eventually was conquered by the Persians. Never accuse me of being smart.

Well folks, I finally did a video on Egyptian Mythology! (Again...)
This is a remastered version of a character study I uploaded on New Year's Eve last year and I was really, really dissatisfied with the quality of the audio and visuals, so I contacted my new editor Andre, and we were able to cut together a serviceable reimagining of the original script... With audio you can actually hear this time...

Continuing on with our trilogy into biblical antagonists, we have (for many people) the face of evil: Baphomet. Typically confused for Satan himself, this sabbatical goat has a surprisingly recent and interesting history dating back to the first crusade, the French royal court, and eventually the Freemasons themselves.
This video is the companion to a video I made on my second channel, Messiahs and History, which can be found here: https://youtu.be/ZPtWdcLF0iw
(I highly recommend watching the video on the fall of the Templars first)
