Massage Therapists Use Far Infrared Sauna to Warm Up Clients Prior to Massage
Kayjay is a massage therapist who has clients who have pain from previous injuries. She found that by putting her clients in the sauna into the sauna prior to a massage session, it really helps to warm up and soften the body tissue.
Study finds increase muscle oxygenation after sauna use:
"whole body muscle oxygenation and kcal expended per minute increased 8.1% and 20.1% from baseline, respectively. At the same time, cardiac output (+10.2%), systemic vascular resistance (-13.9%), and heart rate (+12.6%) significantly changed across the measurements periods compared to baseline. These combined results show that FIR had a measurable positive effects on both cardiovascular function and metabolic thermogenic responses leading to enhanced body oxygenation and regional blood flow to allow whole body thermoregulatory cooling. Not presented in the graphs above was a similar respiratory whole body response showing ventilation increasing 20%, tidal volume increasing 29.6% with a lower respiratory frequency of 13.1%. These data suggest that during the FIR trial intervention, the subject was breathing more deeply and provide an enhance oxygen exchange at lung and pulmonary capillary. Thus, leading to a more efficient breathing and oxygen exchange pattern that would be similar a deeper meditation like breathing response despite the high thermal stress load on the body."

Aaron is a body builder and actor. "I've done saunas in the past. These are the saunas I like because my head is out. I can breathe. Other saunas I can't breathe. I'm limited to the amount of time I can spend in there. So I'm limited to about 12 minutes because I can't breathe. In this I am not limited. As long as I can drink water. I can be in here 30 minutes. I can do that now no problem.
How do you feel?
I feel holy, if that makes sense. It brings a relaxation that is just, you can't replicate this feeling with any other device. This sauna is a healing power. When you get to that 12 minutes. You know you are cleaning yourself. It feels good.
You are sweating too.
Yeah I'm sweating. This is the real deal.
You were in for about 5-7 minutes, two days ago. How was that?
It was just starting to kick. I was just starting to sweat. I can tell. It is a deep burn. I can feel it. You can feel it. It's awesome. I set it to 20 minutes. I am right at the end of 20. I have to sit in a regular sauna for 30 minutes- 45 minutes to get this same level.
So how do you think this is going to help your body building career?
It is definitely going to help recovery. That's the main thing. Recovery. I walk a lot. Walking puts an extreme amount of strain on my hips and my feet. So I'll do this and immediately stretch and I'm wide open."
