Claressa Shields vs. Christina Hammer highlights recap. Claressa Shields has been referring to herself as the "G.W.O.A.T." (Greatest Woman of All Time) for quite some time now.
Well, she can speak the nickname into existence that much further by becoming the undisputed middleweight champion of the world. Shields (8-0, 2 KOs), the WBA, WBC and IBF champion, will look to do that Saturday night when she faces Christina Hammer (24-0, 11 KOs), the WBO titleholder, inside the Adrian Phillips Theater at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., with all the titles and the Ring and lineal straps on the line, live on Showtime. In late February, Sporting News asked Shields if becoming just the second female boxer to be crowned undisputed champion (Cecilia Braekhus is the current undisputed welterweight champion) would rank higher than her two Olympic gold medals. The Flint, Mich., native had to give the nod to owning all the middleweight gold.
"I have to rank the undisputed higher," Shields said, "but my two Olympic medals are right there." Shields added that she upped her cardio in preparation for Hammer because she fully expects the German boxer to take off running once she feels her power.
"I know the first couple of rounds, she may try to stand there, but after she feels the power, she’s going to take off," Shields said. "And once she takes off, these legs got to be ready to go."
That being said, Hammer figures to be Shields' toughest opponent to date. She has enjoyed a long reign as champion and will enter the ring Saturday night as confident as Shields.
"I want to show America who Christina Hammer is," Hammer told SN earlier in the week. "My goal is to finish her and become the undisputed women’s middleweight champion."
Will Shields add a page to her growing legend by becoming the undisputed champion of the world, or will Hammer prove that she's the real deal?
Follow Sporting News' live blog, beginning at 9 p.m., for all the results (all times Eastern):
Main event: Claressa Shields vs. Christina Hammer for the undisputed world middlweight championship
Round 10: Hammer letting her hands fly early on, but it's seemingly way too late. She stood upright and relied on that jab too much without being willing to trade power shots with Shields. A triple-left jab from Shields moments before the fight ends. Dominant showing from Claressa Shields. "T-Rex" yelling "I'm the greatest woman of all time" after the fight. (99-91 Shields)
Round 9: More one-way traffic, as Shields is walking down Hammer and nailing her with more of those overhand rights. Shields mixes in some body shots for good measure. A dominant performance from Shields here. Here comes the 10th and final round. (89-82 Shields)
Round 8: A left hook from Shields brushes Hammer back about

Sean O'Malley suspended after UFC 252. A five-round battle between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier settled their three-year rivalry but neither heavyweight left UFC 252 unscathed.
On Monday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission revealed the medical suspensions from the card after Miocic bested Cormier by unanimous decision to close out the trilogy.
After suffering a brutal eye poke during the fight, Cormier later commented that he was unable to see for much of the final two rounds. He reportedly suffered a torn cornea as a result and while Cormier has all but confirmed his retirement from the sport, he’ll face a potentially lengthy suspension if he decides to compete again.
Cormier must have his left eye cleared by an ophthalmologist or he will be suspended for six months until Feb. 12, 2021.
Miocic must also get checked out by an eye specialist after he suffered an eye poke earlier in the fight as well. Following their rematch in 2019, Miocic had to undergo a surgery to repair a torn retina due to eye pokes prior to his fourth-round TKO win over Cormier.
Miocic has to see a retinal specialist now to get clearance on his left eye before he will be cleared to compete again.
Meanwhile, Sean O’Malley also faces a potentially lengthy suspension after he suffered a leg injury during his fight with Marlon “Chito” Vera. Barely two minutes into the fight, O’Malley began favoring his right leg and replays appeared to show Vera connecting with a kick that may have done the damage.
Either way, O’Malley was noticeably limping on the leg until he finally fell to the floor where Vera finished him with strikes before the opening round expired.
Now the rising bantamweight star will have to get clearance from an orthopedic doctor on his right ankle or he will be suspended for six months until Feb. 12. 2021.
Take a look at the full list of medical suspensions from UFC 252 courtesy of the Nevada State Athletic Commission:
Stipe Miocic — Must have retinal specialist clearance on left eye; minimum suspension until 9/30/20, no contact until 9/15/20

Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal Highlights Recap from UFC 251 for the welterweight championship of the world. Unman enters the matchup as the heavy favorite. Masvidal took the fight on short notice, 6 days notice and had 20 pounds to cut leading up to the weigh-in. Vegas took a last minute bet on Masvidal moments before the fight.
Masvidal came out throwing really quick leg kicks and he clipped usman with a left hook. Usman then scores a takedown. The two get back to their feet where masvidal seems to have the early advantage.
The story of round 2 is Usman pinning Masvidal against the cage and doing some body work and toe stomps. Usman wins round 2
Round 3 when the two are on their feet its clearly a masvidal advantage but Usman is just bullying Usman in this round. Usman scores three take downs which is enough to win the round. Usman was able to do some effective ground work which wins him the round.
round 4 was all Kamaru Usman. He out wrestled , out struck and dominated in the clench. I have it three rounds to 1 for usman.
