Ang Thong province is one of the central provinces of Thailand. It is about 100 km from Bangkok, so you can take a day trip here from the capital. This province has a lot of tourist attractions, historical and cultural places. There are more than 200 beautiful temples in this province, Wat Chaiyo Worawihan, Wat Khun Inthapramun, Wat Pa Mok Worawihan, Wat Tonson, Wat Mahanam, Wat Thasutthawat, Wat Siroi, Wat Khian and, Wat Muang are among the best temples to visit. The province is mostly rural with many of its inhabitants planting rice. It is possible to get up to 3 rice harvests a year with Jasmine rice being the main cash crop. This area misses most of the tourists so if you want to experience Thailand away from the crowds this is the place to come. Wat Khian is a historic temple. It’s very small with one monk being in residence. The highlight is the Ayutthaya era murals that are painted on the inside of the ordination hall. In order to view them you need to have it opened during working hours by the monk or caretaker of the temple. It’s well worth a stop if you are interested in thai history. While on Koh Tao I had a chance to get out and fly the drone around to capture some great views of the island. People come to the island to see the underwater world as well as the beautiful beaches. I made a list of what could be considered the best beaches on the island. Everyone has different ideas of what makes a great beach so if my list isn’t yours that is fine because there are no right or wrong answers. Taa Toh Beach The most secluded of the Koh Tao Beaches. Taa Toh Beach makes for the perfect place to relax for the afternoon. There are a few beach chairs, shade and sand with no other real distractions from enjoying the Sun. Taa Toh Bay Koh Tao is just around the corner from Freedom Beach, making the beach hopping process super easy. Freedom Beach Fro the laziest of the Koh Tao Beaches. Freedom Beach is probably one of the most well known beaches on the south coast among travelers. This is down to it’s super cozy and secluded feeling it gives off. It is little beach with nice sand and great snorkeling. With a beach hut bar and plenty of trees for shade, it made for the perfect place to relax for an afternoon. There isn’t a lot to do other than laze in a hammock or relax on a beach towel but that is not a bad thing. Chalok Baan Kao Bay For the quietest of the Koh Tao Beaches. Chalok Baan Kao Bay is the third largest beach on Koh Tao. It’s a beautifully isolated strip of sand where the waters are some of the clearest on the island. Chalok Bay is not generally top of people’s beach list but it is a real treat. This beach has some of the purest sand and bluest waters to be found on the island. Sairee Beach The best of the Koh Tao Beaches for sunsets. Sairee Beach is a huge 2 km stretch of sand located on the West side of the island. It’s up there with one of the best beaches in Thailand as it’s definitely the most popular and close to all things happening. It’s also family friendly and great for restaurants and street food. Koh Nang Yuan Island The best beach but not on the island. I included this beach because it is one of the reasons people come to Koh Tao. It’s a short 15 minute boat ride from Sairee Beach and is a must do. The unique view of the small strips of sand between the 3 small rocky islands is in itself worth a trip to Koh Tao and this island. In addition to the views the underwater world is amazing. The crowds are a bit larger here but it won’t take away from the experience. The island is a no drone zone but the view point gives you the same vantage. Enjoy the video! Getting to the wonderful island of Koh Kut isn’t as difficult as it might seem when planning a trip. The first part is you’ll have to figure out how to get from Bangkok to Trat. The last part of the journey will be by passenger boat as there aren’t any vehicle ferres to the island. So traveling door to door in the same vehicle isn’t possible. Many take the bus to Trat and then spend a night in the town before traveling to the island the next morning. It’s also possible to fly and do the ferry trip the the island that day or the next morning. Either way thst is the most difficult part. Once you are in Trat the next step is to get to the ferry pier at Laem Sok. I show you how to get from Trat to the pier and then to the island with a final destination being my hotel on the opposite side of the island. Ferries to Koh Kood depart from the mainland pier at Laem Sok, Trat. There aren’t any vehicle ferries, only passenger boats. These are run by four companies – Boonsiri Ferry, Seudamgo, Koh Kood Princess and Ko Kut Express. They all their their own ticket offices near the pier During the High Season, the first boat of the day is at 09:00 and the last at 14:20. Therefore, if you are coming from Bangkok you will need to make an early start. Many visitors opt to stay a night in Trat town and then the next morning come to Koh Kood. The boat companies all provide transport from hotels in Trat to the ferry pier. This is by local pick up truck taxi, called a ‘songtaew’. When you arrive on Koh Kood you don’t have to worry about hoe to get to your resort as the boat ticket also includes transport from the pier at Ao Salad bay to resorts on the island. Boats run daily all year round, but there is a reduced service from mid-May to mid-October. And all hotels can book boat tickets for you. Ticket price ranges from 350 to 700 Baht per person.
