Testing Petrol / Gasoline For Octane (& Ethanol) Part 10 ⛽ Esso Synergy Supreme 99 Northamptonshire
Following up not only the recent Boilerhouse Garage: On The Road video, but also further exploring the issues discovered with Esso Synergy Supreme 99 in previous videos, today's video features both an ethanol test followed by an octane test on a sample taken from an Esso garage off the A45 on the South East edge of Northampton. Will it be ethanol free and if so, will it only read 93RON like our last couple of samples? Let's find out.
Also, Congratulations to my sister and brother-in-law in the arrival of Lennon Bo, born 7am today weighing 6lbs 9oz! ??

Well, that's disappointing! Having tried no less than six different edits, and going through the upload process on each to see if they pass the "check," the algorithmic copyright claim from Warner Bros seems to have a problem with my uploading of this scene. I've ended up with splitting it into two sub-four minute segments, to get it to recognise "allow for use on YouTube" fair use. It's just annoying that I have thirteen videos on my twelve days..
Anyway, this is what it was supposed to be..
To most movie aficionados, this is the number one car chase scene in history. The famous 1968 Bullitt Ford Mustang GT chasing after some bad guys in their 1968 Dodge Charger R/T are enough to put it in anyone's top five, and although I'm not uploading these in any personally merited rank order, I'm still kind of saving the best for last--or rather my favourite! For your viewing pleasure, I have also added on a homage to the Bullitt chase from a 2012 TV series called Alcatraz, with the the contemporary Mustang and Charger models. It's actually very good despite it being short, but given how I'm intentionally shortening these sequences in order to feature the cars and the motive chase itself, I'm sure you'll enjoy it too!
This is the penultimate part to this series, so please check out The Twelve Chase of Christmas playlist and see them in the order I posted since Boxing Day--yes, I didn't know the twelve days of Christmas began on the 26th either!

Sorry for the lack of uploads recently. I made this video last week and hoped to have at least one for each playlist, but technical issues haven't permitted. Plus I've had no luck finding any Tesco Momentum stocked, as I promised that to be the next ethanol fuel test. I'll do the video straight away when I do. In this video, see the Civic diesel get new glow plugs.

These four adverts appeared in the late 90s for an Auto Trader advertising campaign. I used to think the guy cleaning his BMW 3-series was funny and reenacted it in my first Opel Manta.

SUBTITLES ADDED to help with my mumbling and too loud music..
It is not advisable to use fuels that contain ethanol with carburettors, even if you have fuel lines and a pump that is compliant, you can still have running issues on hot days and starting issues when cold. Most Super Unleaded fuels are marked E5, meaning 5% ethanol content, but are they really?
In part 1 we look at Esso Supreme. In part 2 we look at Shell V-Power.
Once you run your classic vehicle on high octane super unleaded, you can most likely advance your timing back to its original degree setting as it may have been retarded when leaded fuel was phased out.

I was never really into Halloween until I had my own children, with the addition to the unwritten rule of trick-or-treaters only knocking on homes that want to participate with decoration, which I thought was a fantastic idea—making the whole thing voluntary.
For this year, I have adapted some candle effect LEDs and used sweet wrappers for a green and purple tint, then taped them to the inside of my car's headlamps. They have their own watch batteries so don't use the headlamp wiring. I've also used a balloon, mask, coat and a few other bits to have a "scary" driver sat in the drivers' seat. Check back with the channel later, when I'll post a YouTube shorts video of the car setup ready for the trick-or-treaters.
Thanks for watching. Please note, the fuel testing vids some are waiting on will be uploaded within the next week (I'm stacked out with work at the moment). I have some Shell Fuelsave E10, Esso Synergy 99 and Texaco Supreme 97 all ready for testing, so I'll try and get a batch done together.

Sorry for the lack of uploads recently. I'm uploading two videos today, later, an ethanol vs V-Power fuel test video; and this one, beginning a new car repair series for my latest aquisition, a 2014 Ford Fiesta ST.
I bought this car (back in March) as a trade sale from a car dealer I do some regular work for and have subsequently recorded each step of the repair process to try and get this very neglected example back in reliable and servicable condition. I hope to get it there at a total cost for less than the price of a good example--but I'm not confident looking at the amount of work it needs...

After a fair wait, I can now fit my premium quality HT leads. However I'm reminded of a mistake Magnecor have been making with regard to the Bosch distributor on the Vauxhall/Opel CIH range..

In today's Christmas Car Chase video, we have another Rover SD1 chasing our lead characters in a Bentley Continental GT--somehow--from the film Doomsday.
This chase goes on for a lot longer in a Max Max-esque style, but there's too much crap going on with regard to quick cuts and in-car acting, so this is just limited to the SD1 police car chasing them.
Please check out the first SD1 in Part 1 of this year's series if you haven't already and thanks very much for watching!

Welcome to Part 5 of our Fiesta ST series. In this video, I give you a step-by-step guide to replacing your brake pads on both the front and rear. This can be applied to many cars which nearly all use a single piston and sliding caliper system, so the principle of this replacement is the same.
We are also using the premium quality EBC Green Stuff pads as well as giving the nice red enamelled calipers a good clean, remembering this Fiesta has had a life of neglect since 2018 until some mug bought it! ?
Please SUBSCRIBE if you haven't already. I'm returning to the fuel tests within the next couple of months and have an eclectic range of cars that I've been working on in my spare time to share.
Thanks for watching!
