Greater Sydney Lockdown, just another day in Australia / FB Live
Why do our State Governments keep locking us down? Will high vaccination rates lead to different solutions as promised? Or are lockdowns here to stay, until our leaders grown a spine and do their jobs? ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5k1aFsWyJ8
Victoria Police & Council Officials shutdown a community kitchen providing meals for the homeless and needy in Melbourne by citing the global pandemic & lack of permits last week. In a video shared on the groups public Facebook page yesterday, the Community Union Defence League is approached by members of Victoria police who call the council to check the organisations permits.
According to comments made in the video, the organisation claims to do this regularly without an issue, however the council is not interested in showing any discretion to allow the group to continue serving meals to the homeless and needy in Melbourne.
At one point a member of Victoria Police attempts to educate the group about the Salvation Army because they are "authorised" to look after the community, hinting perhaps that other types of movements are not required to help the homeless and needy.
Prior to being shut down by the police and the council the group had served about 200 meals to the public.
This month we have also seen another local government collaborate with the police to shut down a children’s skate park, why are authorities working so hard to create disharmony within our community?

An agreement between META (Facebook) and RMIT University, obtained via a case information request, reveals that fact-checkers in Australia are paid $800 (USD) per "Fact-Check." This payment structure is based on a strict monthly quota of 50 "Fact-Checks," totalling $40,000 (USD) per month and allowing for a maximum earning capacity of $480,000 (USD) per year. Does this payment model imply that fact-checking is a profit-driven business with incentives to meet quotas?

Read into this what you will but there was an interesting casual admission by Victoria's CHO Brett Sutton at todays press conference. There wasn't much follow up by the press but I thought it may give us more insight into the pivot in messaging that will happen in the next few months from the Andrews government.
It's in stark contrast to the fear/hope delivered by Andrews on the same topic over the last few months (as shown in this clip from July). It looks like 2021 will continue to present challenges for the people of Victoria.

Australian eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant is a threat to free speech and freedom of expression in Australia. Her long running desire to regulate policy at Twitter since her time as an employee at the platform in 2014, has crossed over to her using the Australian governments regulatory power to achieve her long aims. She should recuse her self from any involvement in the matter, or be sacked and investigated.

Looks like things are going absolutely beautifully in Brisbane with the latest lockdown! Hope the rest of the country is taking notes, this might well be the new "Gold Standard"
In all seriousness though, this entire situation in Brisbane with the 3 day snap lockdown is turning into a farce. Worse, it looks like our good friends in the government are somewhat responsible for the entire mess even though they are more than happy to point the finger at the public and the "wicked virus" to cover for their incompetence.
