Aneurysm recovery update 4/25/21 - still weak and tired, unable to play guitar
Been home for a week now. Still tiring easily, not sleeping well. Dealing with muscle pain when standing. Half my scalp is numb. Getting out for a walk every couple days. Today I go to dr to get final stitches removed.

When I did duos, the singer had to be on point. Here's a good example of taking a cheesy over produced Fleetwood Mac song, 'Big love' from 1988, stripping it down, and making it much better by the sheer power of a superlative vocalist. Lindsay Buckingham wishes he could sing half this well. I worked with this singer for a few years, between 2010 and 2013, and we did a lot of acoustic duo gigs. Gave me a chance to play more fingerstyle and really bring out the personality of certain songs. The duo ended when I got fed up with her inability to learn more than 15 songs. It's always something. But she was in my top 3 singers, no doubt about it. This song was one of the few to let both people shine. Challenging guitar parts, and still fun for the singer. It was from a gig on Commercial drive in 2013. We played there quite a few times, and also did a few gay bars.

1) Street playing is not all fun and games and dancing kids. Doing this for 7 years. I regularly face not only verbal abuse, but physical assault as I work a few blocks from downtown eastside Vancouver. I'm surrounded by addicts, drunks, and people who should be in mental homes.
2) I'm unemployed. All live music including busking, is banned. I lost all work last year and received ZERO compensation. I had a very bad year in 2020 and only recently came out of a depression.
3) I make ZERO from youtube no matter how many views I get. I was demonetized by Google years ago as part of their culling of small accounts. Class action lawsuit was initiated. I don't run ads. And more importantly, even if I did, most of my videos are instantly copyrighted and auto monetized by record labels because they are COVERS. If you see an ad, it's the record label collecting. I've been on youtube since 2006. That's 16 years. Not once have I done an unboxing video. I hate them, in any form, as I find them to be the lowest of the low, on par with reaction videos. And now here I am, a total hypocrite, actually doing one. Why? Brain damage from my aneurism last year? Could be. 1) I wanted to talk about my amp busking problem and give some backstory to my street show requirements, so unwrapping this while talking about it seemed a bit more interesting. 2) It's for those of you actually interested in what equipment I use on the street. I get questions about this all the time. So think of this as not so much 'unboxing' but 'Here's my new toy that MIGHT actually work for me out there.'
Did you know I am contacted by dozens of companies every week that want to advertise their garbage on my channel with ads, links, etc? I ignore all of them. The only things I will ever advertise are things I actually use and they must be related to guitar. Unfortunately, I can no longer work with Parker (out of business) or Traynor (the amp I use is discontinued) or even Zen drive pedals (also discontinued) I have contacted coolmusic if they would be interested in working with me because if this amp works, I will be giving them a lot of exposure with all my street videos. I have written to them and they did write back, so let's see what happens.

July 5/2022. Pink Floyd wrote about it, but this is the real machine. Downtown Eastside, working for barely any tips, being ghosted by thousands of NPC's, still seeing masks, running after thieves, dealing with apathy, drunks and drug addicts on a daily basis. Then the one in 500 not in the machine, stops to listen, tip, or say hi. I could play this all day and it would be the soundtrack to my daily experience.

For a minimum $5 tip, you get to see the trail ride to the concert spot by the river. Then I play for almost 90 minutes over 4 jams. On the ride out you get to see the bear encounter! This is something new I want to try as a change from the chaos of busking downtown. But I need your support as I don't make any tips at all in the woods. Do you like this idea? I took my guitar up to Seymour dam, 30 k outside of Vancouver in bear territory. No phone zombies, no distractions, no stress. Clean air, and only the sound of rushing water.
