In this final round of the Omegathon there can be only one. The only way this can be settled is a trial by Combat! Watch as two people who never played the Atari "classic" battle each other in their tanks to see who will take the prize at PAX AUS 2014.

This…is…Jeopardy! Well, no it’s not; since all the answers and questions are going to be about gaming and geek culture, it’s more like Mild Peril. We will be taking contestants from PAX attendees, so bring your thinking caps to this panel. Just don’t wear anything that will clash with host Dan Amrich’s incredibly blinding red jacket. Part of Game Show Night at PAX East 2013!

In this in-depth presentation, Guild Wars 2 Lead Designer Eric Flannum and Lead Content Designer Colin Johanson will take a look at the history of player vs. environment (PvE) in massively multiplayer online games. Has PvE been about player cooperation or competition? Where is the PvE format headed and what impact will it have on future games? Eric and Colin will discuss how they are developing Guild Wars 2 as a cooperative PvE experience, and will break down how each aspect of system and content design can either encourage or discourage cooperative gameplay. Using specific examples from their development history, they will illustrate both successes and failures of different PvE design approaches. Anyone interested in the future of MMO gaming shouldn’t miss this panel!
