The Yoga Summit of Ohio sponsored to the community in Nov 2018 a one-of-a-kind class called Stillness, Movement & Music. This session was and IS perfect for any level. It is a fun, unexpected event that works to ease anxiety, assist PTSD, increase flexibility, work with chronic pain, boost hope and enhance social emotional skills. This class was performed in Akron/Canton at The Arts Silo/The Meadow (progressive adult day care services), Case Elementary School, Miller South ~ School for the Visual and Performing Arts, Wheels for Change (for Veterans + their families), Summit Dev Disabilities Board, Hands of Hope, Rebecca Stallman School (part of Stark DD), Domestic Violence Project and Deliverance House. In Jan this class will go to Greenwood Early Learning Center.
This session was conducted by Eden Koz (Just Be® founder since 2006, mindfulness instructor and writer for The Huffington Post), yoga instructor Kristie Leahy Comsia (E-RYT 500, degree in early childhood eduction and director of Yoga Central) and local musician Zach Freidhof (released 20 albums, Ex Dir of Big Love Network and recipient of the John T. Looney Award for Justice & Peace).
The Yoga Summit of Ohio was established in 2015 in Akron and has held dynamic programs all over the city of differing sizes and scale ever year. Bigger picture, it brings collaboration, healing and resiliency to ourselves as well as the community at large. It works to unify the yoga/meditation community as well as create and promote all types of sessions that make these practices accessible to those of all ages, abilities, faiths, socioeconomic status, ways of being, experiences and expressions of self. Finally, their goal is to also nourish and bring equity to all yoga classrooms, practices, retreats and trainings.
