Rolle’s Theorem. Find the values of c that satisfy Rolle’s Theorem of y=-2cos(2x) [-pi, pi]. We learn how to determine if Rolle’s Theorem can be applied to y=-2cos(2x) [-pi, pi]. If it can, we find all values of c that satisfy the theorem. If it cannot, we explain why not. We learn how to apply Rolle’s Theorem to a function. We first determine if Rolle’s Theorem can be applied. If it can not be applied, we state why. If Rolle’s Theorem can be applied, we first take the derivative of the function. We then set the derivative equal to zero and solve for x. Once we get these values we determine which ones are within our bounds of the problem. These values are the values of c that satisfy Rolle’s Theorem. This is a great introduction into Rolle’s Theorem. This is under the topic of Applications of Differentiation with this free online math video lesson. #RollesTheorem #findthevalueofc #ApplyRollesTheorem #derivatives #Theorem #calculus #calculushelp #minutemath #minutemathhelp #onlinemathlessons

Instantaneous Rates of Change. What is the equation of the secant line of y=1/(x+2); (-1 1) (-1/2 2/3)? We learn how to find the equation of the secant line of y=1/(x+2); (-1 1) (-1/2 2/3). We find the average rate of change of a function given two points and we find the equation of the secant line with the given points on the function. We also find the equation of the tangent line to the function at the leftmost given point. We sketch both lines for comparison. Finding the average rate of change with finding the equation of the secant line that intersects the given points on the function is a great introduction into differentiation and will prepare you for derivatives. This is under the topic of Differentiation with this free online math video lesson. #ratesofchange #averageratesofchange #secantline #instantaneousratesofchange #tangentlines #differentiation #calculus #calculushelp #minutemath #onlinemathlessons
