Catalonia Calling #23 is called Mobile World Congress and Tension in Madrid and covers this week's events in Barcelona and the Pedro Sánchez's desperate attempts to form a government in Madrid.
The Mobile World Congress was in Barcelona this week and will be back every year until 2023. Apparently, it was a great success but was marred by transport strikes throughout the week.
Meanwhile in Madrid, PSOE leader signed an agreement with Ciudadanos ahead of the investiture debate, which will be held in the Congress of Deputies in Madrid on Thursday March 3rd.
I also want to mention the radio show that I'm doing with my friend Jordi Vilanova - it's called This Week in Catalan Politics and goes out live on BarcelonaCityFM, Barcelona's first English-speaking radio station, every Wednesday lunchtime at 12 o'clock midday.

Catalonia Calling #06 is all about what I've called the New 9N because next Monday is the first anniversary of the proxy referendum on Catalan independence held on November 9th last year. This year it won't be as festive but it will be almost as symbolic.
On Monday morning, the Parliament of Catalonia will debate the resolution on the Declaration of the Initiation of the Catalan Independence Process, which is expected to be passed, and in the afternoon it will vote on the investiture of Artur Mas as President of the Generalitat, which is expected to be rejected.
So Catalonia will have passed the beginning of the break with Spain but will have no government to put the revolutionary proposal into action. After the resolution is passed, it will be set before the Spanish Constitutional Court by the Spanish Government and immediately suspended. So it will be fascinating to see how events unfold next week.

Catalonia Calling #15 Time is Running Out for the XIth Legislature covers the last possible week in which Artur Mas can be invested as President of the Generalitat and the independence process can be saved.
Since the CUP's decision last Sunday not to invest Artur Mas, Catalan politics have been in turmoil with recriminations being thrown in all directions and the social media networks have almost literally been on fire.

In Talking Barça Podcast 6, Nic and Simon take on an irreverant tone! We take a critical look at Spain's Friendlies against England and Costa Rica. The Hospitalet game saw the debuts of Tello and Rafinha but the excessive ticket prices lead Simon takes to extol the virtues of his other love - Hospitalet's rivals in Segunda B - UE Sant Andreu. We then have a dig at Barça President Sandro Rosell and wind up with a confident overview of game against Real Zaragoza and a more enthusiastic preview of next Wednesday's Champions League tie against AC Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In This Week in Catalonia 30, recorded for BarcelonaCityFM on August 31st 2016, Simon Harris and Jordi Vilanova talk to Ghanaian-Catalan Ousman Umar, who arrived in Catalonia as an illegal immigrant 11 years ago and now runs the NASCO ICT charity, which sends second-hand computers back to Ghana and encourages education projects. We discuss his story, the charity and a variety of issues associated with immigration and whether the long journey is really worth making for most people.
